Be a leader not a dick

BE A LEADER,
NOT A DICK.

The first thing you do when you are placed into a leadership role is go to church. See the people there? They are there to worship one God, and it ain't you. So take out a straight pin and pop your ego.

Second thing you do, is remember what got you there in the first place. Management recognized you for your ability to articulate, communicate, motivate & listen.
You worked with other co-workers and helped. Went above & beyond.
Remember nothing has changed except your role. Remember who you are.

Everyone helped you get there, you did not do it 100% on your own. So don't play favorites, treat everyone as an equal. Do not divide the team.

Finally, remember back when you used to say, if I was manager what would I do? Nothing has changed. Don't be a political candidate & once elected & change your platform.

Everything you do, think when you were the rep & how you would respond. Care for everyone, be sincere, talk and listen, help & understand. Do not ask them to do something you would not do yourself or couldn't do yourself.

Be what got you there, be yourself, not a dick.
