Is this not soft military draft or what?

Zerohedge broke a story today that Illinois high school students have only three choices if they want to get the high school diploma (even if they graduate with passing grades):

  1. Enroll in military or
  2. Produce an acceptance letter from a college or
  3. Have a job

Full story can be found at http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-07-08/chicagos-terrible-new-plan-force-high-school-kids-military

With regards to choice # 3 above, with the unemployment at a record low (just 4.3%), getting a job shouldn't be a problem, right? Wrong! A recent survey indicated that young people on the average are spending 203 fewer hours on the job and are lagging behind the 50+ age group in terms of getting a new job. Anybody thinking entitled, triggered snowflakes?

With regards to choice # 2 above, with the economy having the best recovery ever, jobs after college shouldn't be a problem, right? Wrong! This is just kicking the can down the road and getting more indebted to the system

So choice # 1, really seems to be a lucrative choice. In fact, I would classify this as a Hobson's choice. Bigger military means bigger budget means bigger debt for all of us. The solution is not to have the biggest military but to have the most effective military.

OR, is this a prelude to official draft? Something is not making sense here.

History always repeats itself.

That's wild man...doesn't surprise me though
Looks like "they" taking advantage of the fact that parts of Illinois is on the verge of filing bankruptcy and using that for reasoning to implement crazy ass legislation smh

The way they are implementing is very demeaning to our finest men and women in military. Instead of saying that this is the future and this is where the best of the best go, they are saying - get a life or else....! Very sad.
