The first booster is the Minnow Support Project. It is has a large community that connects on discord. Steemit definitely needs a chat app to complement it, and I suppose discord fills that role. Downloading and joining discord is essential as that is where you are able to get free MSP post promotions and connect with the MSP community on a real-time basis. They have many tools available, most that you can "unlock" as your steem power grows.
Another chat option is steemit.chat. I am trying it right now and chatting with someone on the other side of the world (Cambodia) who is using steemit! Her ID is @matytan , check out her blog! Glad to help! The first one would probably be minnow support project/discord. They give the only high paying free upvote once daily and most connections to whales, other users, and beneficial programs.
You can’t mine Steem in the same manner as other coins such as bitcoin. So mining hubs won’t help with this. Discord is a centrally owned company. It’s just commonly used by Steemit users as an effective way to communicate with each other.
You can't mine STEEM directly, but mining will generate STEEM if you want. You can mine the most valuable coin and convert it into litecoin which is the lowest transaction fees for converting into STEEM.
