The new queen was accompanied by King Sutida, after the sudden announcement of her marriage to Vajiralunkorn three days before the coronation.
The ceremony takes place after a period of mourning for the late king and comes in a state of confusion over an unresolved election crisis between the current junta leader and a "democratic front" trying to keep the army away from politics.
