I only watch TV maybe an hour per week, at most. I don't gain anything from it aside the mind numbing relaxation of taking a break. My wife and teens watch tv and they don't really see the world for what it is, making it harder for me to impart the wisdom that I have invested time to develop. TV is a contributing factor to the breakdown of the family unit, as you eluded to in your post. I don't miss watching TV but sometimes it hinders conversation because we don't understand the viewpoints of eachother.
