I like my steak cooked a bit more. had a lovely sirloin steak from Aldi last week x

The key is to sear the outside of the steak while keeping the stripe of meat just under the outside of it where it tends to overcook as thin as possible. In this case, i put a layer of melted butter around the whole surface of the steak and I heated the pan just enough for it to continually simmer. About 5-7 minutes each side, and most importantly; covered. Then once it is taken off the pan, make sure to let it rest.

I actually don't like undercooked steak, you can tell by the texture whether or not the center is cooked or not. In this case, while it was certainly rare, it was consistently cooked all the way through. Again, the key to this is the covered cooking and the covered resting.
