Steem Monsters Summoners trading 25% above their 4 week moving average price
I've been looking at card prices for Steem Monsters. I settled in on tracking the beta regular foil summoners as my overall barometer for how card prices are doing. Maybe I'll expand this some more in a future post, but for now this is the extent of my price research.
Study
I went to peakmonsters, I selected regular foil, beta, and summoners. Then I clicked the month charts. It shows me the 4 week average price, the current price for a single level 1 card, how many were sold, and how many were put on the market.
I then took the difference between the current price and the 4 week average price. At the very end I averaged all the price changes.
Results
Nearly all summoners are trading above their 4 week averages. Selenia is the only one that is showing a price loss relative to the 4 week average. The other ten cards have gone up in value. Malric and Kiara show the smallest gain in the 5% range while Xander and Lyanna show the largest gains of 54% and 74%.
On the whole the summoners are trading 25% above their 4 week average price.
Marketcap
The current Market Cap of all the Steem Monsters cards out there is $1,181,241 as calculated by the Discord bot. This is off the recent low of around $1.1M, which marks a somewhere in the vicinity of 5-10% gain off the low. If steem monsters were a coin listed on Coin Market Cap the Market cap would put it as the 710th coin.
Do these numbers consider the amount of new cards and calculate a change in the average price per card? Specifically, splitting out the prices of alpha vs beta vs reward vs promotion would also provide more insight to the true performance of the value of Steem Monster cards.

I'm especially bullish on Daria Dragonscale.
Daria is a good investment, not only it allows the new players to use dragons but is also a great help to those who can't expend too much money in maxing a summoner. That's why I didn't sell them and now have a lvl5 Daria.
Problem is you can’t use her in quests.

The same than with Selenia and the cost 2 beta summoners, it's a inconvenient but you can use her to go higher in the ranking, that's more rewards, more money to buy regular summoners, is really helpful despite the quest issue :).
I’ve been buying cards on the regular that have been cheap for the price. It’s cool that prices are rising because that means more profit for anyone selling. Sorry for the buyers though because that means cards are more expensive. Unless you buy packs and pull good of course 😁

When the prices of the cards get higher the packs will be a sure win, that's not too far IMO, those packs will fly away fast for sure.

This is awesome to see and were not done yet. Thankful and glad to be apart of this game and here on this platform.... We are not finished yet, we will not sit at 710th if we were on coinmarketcap, we for sure are going up....
Not having the liquid steem to buy summoners is really hurting my overall chances of being able to stay competitive. Have you considered making reward summoners besides the one Dragon summoner we have? It might make levelling up a bit easier for me, and I'd have more steem at my disposal from selling cards.
Yeah, I went and bought a lot of summoners right when you announced Rewards cards and that has turned out pretty well for me.
I think the summoners are the best benchmark for pricing as they will be the first needed to level up as players continue to scale higher in the ranking given the rewards they receive even if holding off making new purchases. Encouraging to see the dynamics move in this direction!
