I hadn't seen some of those memes. I like the ones who don't poo-poo the "police" who are out there... um... catching speeders ... wearing riot gear.
A history of the policeman would be educational right about now. What did we do before there were any?!
They started as a way to catch runaway slaves...
Well, no, I am talking about the big city police forces that started as a merchant's way of keeping thieves at bay. Privatized security. The NYPD of today is the result. Similar things happened in London and NY around the same time.
