So many people are in dissension to run Uber which has an estimated value worth $50 billion so that they will later prepare it for an initial public offering (IPO). Kalanick resigned late Tuesday amid pressure from investors after months of controversy. Controversy over charges of sexual coercion and prejudice leading to a loss of over $10 billion from its market value since January.

Immelt aged 61 years, is said to be stepping down as GE CEO early this week and he has emerged as the top contender who is interested. Uber's board did met late Thursday and discussed the search among other issues.

What could make Immelt appealing to Uber is his adoption of strategies that he reinforced at GE and later became "the digital industrial company."

But he also carries critics with him. During his 16 year tenure at General Electric, GE's shares fell by 34% alongside accusations of overpaying and cutting shareholder dividends in the year 2009.

Lately, Uber's market shares has gone down to its rival Lyft while its brand name being corroded with riders. It is not yet clear by Uber's board of Kalanick's removal from daily operations nor how his successor will take office.
