CFO PayPal: "Bitcoin will quickly succeed"
There is widespread suspicion around the possibility that Bitcoin will become a widely accepted currency, but PayPal's CFO only sees positive things dominate the future of the cryptocurrency.
Success has come very close
According to John Rainey, CFO of PayPal :Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency will someday become a popular payment method - but not just that.
Talking to The Wall Street Journal, Rainey said:
However, the CFO admits Bitcoin is the lawful currency, even if it is not ready for communications mainstream acceptance.
Rainey adds:
This is not the first time PayPal has shown support for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. PayPal is one of the pioneers of accepting cryptocurrency as a currency on its platform, allowing businesses to choose to be paid by Bitcoin in the early 2014-2015.
Earlier this year, CEO Dan Schulman of PayPal called Bitcoin a "delightful experience" at the Facebook Live event, noting that "it could change the world." At the same time, CEO Wences Casares of Xapo It has even predicted a further future as a BTC could cost $ 1 million.
There is still mixed opinion
Of course, not everyone agrees with Rainey and Schulman's optimistic vision of Bitcoin's future as a currency. Earlier this week, Bank of England Governor Mark Carney said Bitcoin had failed on almost every front:
However, Tezos investor and investor Tim Draper recently declared Bitcoin the "future" of the currency and one day, most of the world's currency would be cryptocurrency.
