Flower

I awoke in a darkness. At least I thought I did. It feels like my eyes are open, yet I can not see. There is a very low light in the distance. I start walking toward it. Sound is drowned out by a vast distance as my steps are barely heard to my own ears. The light slowly gets brighter. Going to be a long walk.

Where am I? What did I do to get here? Am I supposed to be going toward the light? I smell nothing. The air is lightly humid, but I hear or smell no water anywhere. The light is not just a white light as I get closer. It looks like a bunch of multicolored fireflies. Different colors swirling around like a coordinated dance with no pattern or recognition. It was mesmerizing. I kept walking toward it hoping I would be able to find some answers.

As I get closer to the light I notice it is a doorway. Twice as wide as me and twice as tall. I step through the doorway and notice there is green around. There is something tall and brown all over the place. More multi-colors are spread throughout the green. They could be... There are people around. I am on an ice rink. Figure skaters are practicing in the middle while less skilled skaters are going around the sides. There is a mix of kids and adults. Hockey skates and figure skates. I am skating around with these people. It seems I have done this before. I'm skating around them faster than they can go, but without touching them. I skate around them like I am one with the ice. I can feel their presence. Feel every spot they are on. I feel free.

Then I see her. She stops my breathe. She is so pretty and innocent. She is young and it looks like she is a beginning figure skater. There is a smile on her face that is just contagious. Her eyes are mesmerizing. I stop. It's as if my heart skipped a beat. Am I still breathing? She sees me near the end of the rink just standing there. Her smile gets bigger and her eyes light up even brighter. Is she really looking at me? Why would she be that happy? Do I know her? I feel a hug like it was from a long lost friend. Someone you lost touch with long ago because life got away from each of you. When she looked up at me I could see something in her eyes. Like she adored me. Admired me. What have I done for her to see me that way? I have no clue but it feels good that someone feels that way toward me. I put my hand around her and return the hug.

I'm choking. I can't breathe. There is water around me. It's a bit dark. My body is struggling to stay alive. What happened to me? It's brighter now. There are people around me. Something is happening. Someone is pushing on my chest. Or close to it. I feel something in my throat. I'm coughing and water comes out of my nose and mouth as I am rolled to my side. There are naked people all around me. It feels that I am also naked as the wind blows and I feel the breeze against the water on my skin. It feels nice. Cool. I see kids across a pool staring at me wondering what is going on. A few adults are crowded around me trying to help me from what I can tell.

An open field. Slowly rolling hills for miles. In the distance there is a figure. I am floating toward it. The figure is light skinned. The grass is green. Some bushes and trees scattered along the way. The air feels nice. Warm. This feels where I need to be. As I get closer I notice it is the same little girl from before. This time she is naked. Free. She is the one controlling where I go. There is something about her that makes me want to do anything for her. To help her. Protect her. I am close enough to her now and my feet touch the ground. She reaches out her hand and I reach out mine to accept hers.

''I have something to show you. Come with me.''

''Ok.''

I walk where she leads me. Something changes and the world is shifting. Something new is happening.
