HOMELESSNESS; A societal peril.

Affordable housing still remains a problem to some persons in our society due to numerous factors such as low income level, Household size, geographic location, etc and this could lead to Homelessness.

A homeless person could be described as an individual without permanent housing who may live on the streets; stay in a shelter, abandoned building or vehicle, or any other non-permanent situation.
Homeless persons are faced with problems of poor nutrition which could lead to low efficiency and productivity, as well as growth stunting and poor cognitive abilities in children as a result of malnutrition.
Homelessness could expose an individual to numerous health issues such as upper respiratory infections e.g Asthma and other communicable disease as a result of overcrowding. Current research has shown that Asthma rates are high for homeless children especially in tropical Africa.

How can we curb these menace?
Overtime life has shown overwhelming things we could do if we have the right mentality and direct our minds towards the positive side of life, things will always work out fine, lend a hand to persons in need, a spare change or hot meal could save a person's life.
Develop an understanding towards people, its very sad that persons in this era still turn a cold shoulder when they see homeless persons on their street or around where they live.
Cultivate care and compassion towards people, studies has shown that persons who are homeless have stress that tolerance, compassion and empathy are important in their lives and that a nurturing environment aids in creating a community where homeless people feel a sense of belonging.
