Achievement #5, Task 2: Review Steemscan

1. Current Steem Prices and Volumes

In the last 24 hours, the price of Steem rose from $.58 to a little bit over $.59.
Over the last 24 hours, the volume of Steem peaked at 1:00 pm yesterday, hitting $31,348.96, and currently it is at $8,307.75.

Here is the year view. Near the beginning of April, Steem was worth $1.42, and the volume peaked around $9,300,000.

2. Latest Transactions and Latest Blocks

The Latest Transactions section shows every transaction that has happened recently on the Steem blockchain with details including: block ID, ID, time of the transaction, usernames of sender and receiver, type of transaction like vote or payment, and amount/percent/payload.

The Latest Blocks section shows the most recent blocks and data including: block ID, height, timestamp, the number of transactions, and the username who mined.

Witnesses

The Witnesses section shows a list of current active witnesses. Details are: rank, witness username, approval (in MV), status, version, last time they mined, missed, price feed, reg fee, and vote.
At the top of the section is shown: height, network, supply in STEEM and SBD, total number of witnesses, total Steem mined, height of the last block, transaction count, and the current witness.

What a DApp is, and Which Ones Interest Me

DApp stands for "Decentralized App". It is "an application built on a decentralized network that combines a smart contract and a frontend user interface", according to ethereum.org.

I went to dapp.com and discovered many Steem based dapps. Here are some listed on the website:

I am going to check out several of the Steem based dapps listed on dapp.com, including: Drug Wars; DTube (I have an account on DTube, now I need to post some content); and Exhaust, which is a fitness tracker for Steem. I need to get into shape.

Quick Convert

In order to convert STEEM to US dollars, bitcoin, or TRX, click Quick Convert at the top of the SteemScan page. That brings you to the page shown above. Fill in the amount of STEEM you want to convert, and as you can see you are shown how much of the currency into which you are converting that you will receive. Provide a destination wallet address to send the converted currency to and click "create order". As you can see, the fee for converting is about $1.12, which does not change when you vary the amount of STEEM to convert.

Search

As you can see, the search feature allows one to search for a block, a transaction, an account, or a witness.

When I searched my own username, it provided me with the above information and more, basically all the information about my account including transactions which are not shown but appear further down the page.
