FERTILE EARTH, UNACCEPTABLE PRODUCTS.
Venezuela has stood out for possessing besides beautiful women, natural riches, extraordinary great leagues, noble and hardworking people and fertile lands for agriculture.
From colonial agriculture, from indigenous crops for local consumption of corn, cassava, potatoes and other foods, vegetables brought from Europe and Africa, which did not exist in America, were also grown.
We had in our country an agriculture for export that began with indigenous crops such as: cocoa, tobacco, cotton and other American plants. And in modern times we can add rice, sugar, corn and coffee to this list of products destined for export.
Although for young people under 20 who may be reading this post may come to surprise that these products were exported from Venezuela, example of these products is the sugar that is a product that disappeared from the Venezuelan market a few years ago because of shortages. A product that was introduced by foreigners in our crops and that like the coffee grown since the 18th century in the first plantations of Chacao (Caracas-Venezuela) and historians tell that it was a great feast when they obtained the first harvests
Because these 2 products were a Venezuelan export flag for the world and it is inconceivable that currently 1 Kg of coffee is around 9 million bolivars (equivalent to 4 minimum wages).
The Andean lands are famous for the production of vegetables such as: carrots, potatoes, chives, lettuce, among others. Somehow these products were partially alleviating the decrease in meat products due to its high purchase price (1 kg of meat is valued at 4 million bolivars), these agricultural products in the main cities of the country are around prices ranging from million up to one and a half million bolivars (prices close to half a minimum wage). Needless to say, tomatoes, onions, together with the eggs, prepare a delicious Perico (a kind of stir-fry with these 3 products and chives) to accompany the arepas for breakfast, the prices are: 1 million and a half tomatoes of bolivars, 900 onions thousand bolivars, eggs (15) units one million three hundred thousand bolivars.
All this obeys to erroneous economic policies as they were and they are: confiscations, freezing of prices, expropriations of farms and private production units that went to the hands of the Venezuelan State and granted under the figure of "cooperatives" whose members are related. to the political ideology of the Venezuelan government that put an end to these productive units, expropriated for example Agroisleña, a company dedicated to the sale of products for agriculture such as: seeds, fertilizers and agricultural machinery; even through financing. Because it was expropriated to turn it into Agropatria, put in the hands of the incapable who placed the few products that were sold to resellers who exploited the farmers with prices that exceeded 2000% of surcharge.
The picture is sad and bleak when the production of agricultural products such as potatoes has decreased by 85%, rice 60%, corn 55%, coffee 60%. Products that were everyday consumption and that for their high prices can not be purchased, in this case we do not talk about the consumption of a trivial product as it can be to replace the current Smartphone with a more modern one with better operational readiness or a brand suit; We talk about products that provide nutrients, vitamins and minerals necessary for the body, which help prevent diseases and that contribute to the psychomotor and cognitive development of future generations.
A fertile land that, just by throwing a seed without any intention, germinates a plant. Fertile land you have become the prostitute of mercantilism, usury, rancid expropriation of private property and exploitation tool for the consumer.
