dthis and dthat, dfuture?

Yesterday, I returned to steemit and submitted my 2nd ever post. My only other post was 9 months ago so I've been out of the loop for quite awhile. Today, I've been trying to explore the platform a little and I noticed some of these "d-things". There's @dlive, @dmania, @dtube, and @dsound. At least those are the ones I've seen so far. What else is out there? Any others I need to know about?

Is this the future? Is this how artists and content creators will now monetize their work? If so, awesome! I think it's great that direct consumers can simply like/upvote content that they enjoy and it includes an immediate monetary value attached.

As a fan of music, I especially like DSound. I haven't spent much time there yet but I easily found this cool song from @alao: https://dsound.audio/#/@alao/im-a-be-me

Okay, so my vote's only worth $0.01 right now but at least it's something. Hopefully, in time my vote will be worth more and I'll be able to show more appreciation for the various artists and content creators here on Steemit.

I'm also interested in this for selfish reasons. I have an 18-year old at home who seems to just want to play video games and make music all day (actually, more like all night). I've been a little concerned about his future. Perhaps I can convince him to join Steemit and share his music via dsound? It's not that I expect him to making a living out of it. But maybe he'll learn the value of getting paid for work put it. Maybe he'll connect with consumers and other artists, and be able to improve his craft. And who knows? Maybe he will be able to make a living out of it. In any case, I believe he's already publishing some of his work on SoundCloud so why not put it here instead?

As I understand it though, upvotes are only monetized during the first 7 days after they are posted. What if your content isn't discovered until after the first week? Weeks or months down the line even? Tough luck? That's quite unfortunate when the work can be discovered at any time and, (especially for music) can be enjoyed again and again indefinitely. Hmm, did I actually just make a case for not publishing music on Steemit? Or is it still better compared to other platforms.

I'm still very new to all this so what are your thoughts? Any artists out there already making a living on Steemit?

Sort:

I don't think it benefits you in any way if someone finds your old post (unless if they decide to follow you). This is why it is important to post consistently.

And I would recommend that your son continues to practice even without publishing his work anywhere because he will learn a lot while making new tracks. Posting to SoundCloud AND Steemit might be a good idea :)

Welcome back to Steemit! It's great to see more new Finnish people like me here :)

Thanks for the response! And good point! He could just share his music on both SoundCloud and Steemit.

Yup! that's right Aylwin. Bring the attention of your musician child to both. And I think musicoin is also worth taking an in-deep look for his next future. :)

Never heard of musicoin before. This is exactly the kind of response I was hoping for. Thanks!

Glad that was useful. In fact there are many more. Musicoin was just one from the tip of my head/tongue/fingers... well, whatevah tip at the moment. Hahaha :)

Didn't realise you were a Finn too. Are you on the @suomibotti list @dromzz ?

Yeah I should be on the list :) I found @suomibotti right when it started and I had just joined like few days ago

ok, looks like @apsu found you. :)

Thanks for checking out my track 😁

Hi found you from @tarazkp 'spost about you. I'm an artist & musician and I'm so stoked to have found Steemit!! I totally support your son getting on Steemit. The world's changed, making a living as a creative (or even playing videogames) is totally possible, and not even THAT hard (no harder than starting any other business) with the internet in general, and Steemit especially! These days it's not superstar or washed up clubs and nothing in between

Thanks for the reply! I had quick look at your blog. Some cool stuff there!

welcome @adigitalife. the boy is such a cutie.

i believe with people like @tarazkp guiding you, you would soon get to understand the platform within a short time.

welcome once more
