Create Artificial Vegan "Honey" by yourself! ( Inverted Sugar Syrup )
There is a simple way to reproduce the bees' honey, but is this sugar syrup really that good?
Recipe
Ingredients:
- Sugar (sacharose)
- Twise as much water
- Lemons (for each 20ml water is a half lemon needed)
- Baking Soda
Instructions:
1. Put the sugar and the water together with the juice of the lemons into a pot.
2. Heat the liquid under stirring. (This will take 30 - 40 minutes! )
3. Stop heating when the liquid got viscous like honey and it should have a golden colour.
4. At last add some baking soda.
Is Inverted Sugar Syrup as good as Honey?
Artificial "honey" has much less vitamins, amino acids and minerals than real honey, but it is cheaper. So it was very popular in bad times in Europe. I recommend real honey, because it is really healthy.
Can Artificial "Honey" be found in the supermarket?
It is forbidden in many countries to name it "honey" because it is not made by bees. So look for Inverted Sugar Syrup. Probably you'll find it between real honey or in the section for bakery.
What can Inverted Sugar Syrup be used for?
- bread-spread
- sweetener for tea
- baker products
- cocktails
- icecream
- chocolate candy
- ...

With sugar, it is no longer honey.
I had no clue you could do this. I like to use agave as my vegan honey alternative.
