Do you remember

the behind the scenes video that I made about going out to shoot a disposable camera the other day?

Well, it’s been over a week and I hadn’t received my photos from the lab. So today I went there in person. It turned out they’d probably sent it off to the wrong person. I know this because the file name was someone else’s name instead of mine. Thankfully I didn’t have anything personal on there.

Not only did I not have any personal photos, I didn’t have any good photos either. Seriously I don’t think I’ve ever had a worse collection of photos back from the lab, ever. I’m not even talking of the quality of the photos in terms of colour and contrast - things that are kind of beyond my control. My composition was rubbish too.

In my defence, there was a bit of parallax error involved with using point and shoot cameras with no “through the lens” view. I am used to compensating for parallax errors though - since I use rangefinder cameras often. I suspect the difference is that the viewfinder and the lens view are way off from each other in terms of field of view. Normally if I at least knew what the focal length of the lens was, I could compensate in my mind, but there was no such information on the camera. I was really shooting blind, for lack of a better expression.
