I spent some time in the red rocks

today in the blazing hot sunshine. I encountered a few local animals such as horses, tortoises and prairie dogs.

I'm always ever impressed by succulents which tend to thrive under such harsh conditions.

The rocks themselves, close up, are like hundreds of thousands of red pancakes layered one on another. Absolutely magnificent sight both from afar and closeup.
