I had been slacking with my photography

in the past weeks, but this week I finally got out there and took some photos. I don’t know why I was slacking - probably due to fatigue, or the sudden end of the ultra-warm summer days we’ve had here in London.

Here are some of my favourites from the past week.

London, old and new

The first photo is from an old building in the Kings Cross area. I took this photo while recording a video review of disposable camera.

The second is one of the towers that have been recently erected in London. It’s at Aldgate. A friend of mine works in that building. I took the photo while waiting for her to finish work so we could record a video together.

Where is the ground?

---

I’m constantly reminded that London is as deep as it is high. Walking around in central London, you may get the impression that you’re on the ‘ground floor’ when in fact you’re on the middle floor. Under the London ground, there is a whole new world - including rail lines, the tube (which everyone one knows and is accurately termed “London Underground”), offices, cafés shops, homes, e.t.c.

I took the above photo in Moorgate at street level. The perspex glass betrays the underworld.

The photo below is at the northbound platform of the Northern Line at Old Street.

This one was taken on Gromwell Highwalk, Barbican. As the name suggests, it’s a high walk - it’s a street at the 3rd floor level of the surrounding buildings.

The final photo is my favourite of the bunch. This was taken at the Shoreditch Grind in Old Street. It is an obvious tribute to the great dearly departed Aretha Franklin.

That’s the round up for this week. I’m going to be taking a lot of photos in the coming weeks and sharing them on here. I’m experimenting with various formats of sharing photos on the Steem blockchain, and I’ve considered just posting without words, but I kind of enjoy writing a little bit to add context.
