Mass Sanitation

PANIC MODE

I popped into ASDA early today to grab some probs for the video I'm making about "how to kill germs". I needed to pick up some hand sanitisers, anti-bacterial hand washes, disinfectants, e.t.c.

All gone!

I also noticed that the particular anti-viral foam I use is also sold out on Amazon with no restock date. Are we now officially in panic mode?

I checked the situation at the local pharmacy, and ironically only the effective stuff remained. All the stuff that won't really work well are sold out. The things that can really kill viruses, like surgical spirits, clinical disinfectants, e.t.c., are still on the shelf. This is probably because the general public doesn't really understand how these things work - which is why I'm trying to make this video.

I also observed a lot of people walk up to the first aid section, pick up things like Detol disinfectants and think about it for a while, before leaving it back on the shelf.

In both ASDA and the pharmacy, there was a prevailing smell of bleach. A member of staff told me that they are wiping down the shop, especially the payment stations, routinely.

While it is a bit unsettling, it's good to see people are taking precaution and at least making an effort, even if ineffective.

What precautions are you taking?

Sort:

The main precaution I'm taking is hand-washing, especially when I come into the house from outside. I have done it as a practice for years, but I'm more vigilant now. I'm trying very hard not to touch my face when I'm out and before I have had a chance to wash my hands. I'm not sure I'm doing so well there.
The other thing is doing the best you can to be as healthy as you can, so that you are as resilient as you can be. Eating properly, a diverse diet, being physically active, getting enough sleep, that kind of thing. And staying in touch with people, keeping your spirits up.

Well, you're doing it right. I can't see how you can improve except maybe moving the the Sahara desert :D

Well, it would be dry there 😎 But do they have any toilet paper? I understand Japan and the States have run out.

This is why it is important to stay more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a person who is sick.

We have nothing to worry about in Finland. That is a picture from a bus stop on a normal day.

Personal space heaven!!

Yes, yes it is :) and we take it VERY seriously.

Meanwhile in London

And that's off-peak ...

Hahah. Exactly :)

👍💕💐

Not doing a damn thing to be honest. Haven't done anything out of the norm which includes taking a shower EVERYDAY and washing my hands a lot

Haha. If anything, people are now washing their hands. A lot of people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom :/

Alot of panic for sure. precautions is just keeping clean and avoiding public spaces and events.

Unfortunately your government has failed you and let the virus in. (I assume you're in Kenya) :/
