A Day Of Reflection

in #busy7 years ago (edited)

Just stopping by to get some of that sweet Steem say hi and wish all of you an great Sunday. It's indoor weather here today - not cold, but very windy and rainy. Normal British weather basically.

I have been thinking today how privileged I am. It's quite insane really. I can type a bunch of words into a computer, maybe load a photo or video with it, and literal money comes out of the other end. I can only imagine my late grandpa's reaction if someone like him was around to see this age. He passed away in 1981 at the age of 100, so he was born in the late 19th Century! He was already an adult ( in his 20's) during the 1st World War! He would have seen some technology back then for sure, but for him 'work' was synonymous to (all-day) physical exertion.

Anyhow, I digress :) . I just wanted to share some gratitude with my Steem fam while wishing you a great day. Enjoy your life and hug someone (if you can't find a tree).

:')

I can only imagine my late grandpa's reaction if someone like him was around to see this age.

I try to explain my grandmother what I'm doing but she just stopped asking about it - it just doesn't register. I think most people above the age of 60 don't think I'm doing anything really :D

Enjoy your privileged life Ade! Next generation doesn't even have to make posts to get crypto/money, mark my words :D

Wow, imagine.. you're born and you get your own crypto wallet at birth. People can deposit crypto as your birth gift. Your brain and muscles start mining LifeCoin.

Definitely sometimes one muses and a stream of consciousness comes alive and you realise that even with everything you may not have been able to achieve, we're so thankfully of the ones we've achieved, what an age for your grandfather, mine died when he was 89 and my father died at 54

My the souls of our ancestors rest in peace.

Lol that's why I love Share2steem, sometimes it affords us mini expressions like this.

Very sad for your father. That is far too young!

Well it was a heart attack, never been the same ever since for me, thanks though

I’m sorry for your loss. That is tragic.

At times in my crazy mind, I just wonder if ever another world war should break out, It's going to be full technology driven. Its could start and end without the direct death of a single soul but the economical damage might be worst than that ever seen before.

My belated condolence @adetorrent and my your late grandpa's continue to rest in peace... Amen!

Hahaha, Get that Sweet STEEM Ade, Gerrrit!
To be honest I love micro blogs, sweet and precise.. Keep them coming.

I miss my grandfather. He had a large orchard and full of fruit. On holidays, he gave me a bitter chocolate which I did not like. He was the man of the future. He had the first Motorola mobile phone and was able to handle it.

Happy memories :)

Yes we are lucky indeed. I am out of my no-technology 24h and I feel weird to go back. The book was my friend this time and I spent my time reorganize my room :)) I lived like in those years in a way, when everything was analogic. I was wondering if I should by an old alarm clock 😂 Is almost unthinkable how addicted to technology we are.

Welcome back :) . How was the 1920's?

Well it was interesting as an experiment. People engaged more in conversation as their focus wasn't continually shift towards how can I display what I found with others 😋 It is more likely to discover/spend time thinking about the space or the world and not concern that you miss the prime time exposure on Instagram 😂😂

Mate, I agree with your sentiment. We live in an amazing age of opportunity and plenty.

I showed my grandad some photos the other week - various family pics of what we’ve been doing - and up came of a photo of me with a camera in my hand on a shoot.
I said that’s what I do, it’s me at work - and he said whilst chortling “Work? That’s not work!”

I agreed, in the sense that it’s not traditional back breaking labour, and I actually LOVE doing it.

I think his mind would be blown by STEEM so I didn’t bother mentioning it!

Money, work and lifestyle have indeed changed to an unrecognisable degree.
We’re lucky to be living in such a thriving time.

Nice post man

“Work? That’s not work!”

Hahaha classic! I can imagine the look on his face too. haha.
Yeah, STEEM would be way too mind blowing. I think my grandpa would struggle with the idea of a computer screen. "So, you are the one making this stuff happen on this light board?" haha

Starting my day with some morning reflections with my family as most Sundays! Then, look forward to just laying low for the start of another work week!

Time changes everything. I hope when she was cone that she left good memories here.

Indeed.

:)) ... Sorry My text sometime bad :)) there was he... I was think she :))

I need to write more posts like this one — just a collection of thoughts and images. “Hi friends. Here’s a picture of an old old house! Feeling great today. Bit nippy.” You have inspired me, as usual, @adetorrent! 😁

Hahahaha. It's my pleasure haha.

Actually I do kind of collect seemingly unrelated thoughts in my very quick Actifit posts at the end of each day. It’s a very freeing activity. Instead of staring at a screen and wondering “What should I write today?”, I just start typing.

I have to post by midnight, and I usually only have 10 or 15 minutes to do it. So there’s no time for head scratching and over-thinking! It can be a fun and fresh way to write. Other posts I labor over for hours!

I can imagine it's different for you since you're a writer. For me, since I'm not really a writer, I just churn the stuff out the same way I'm thinking it. LOL

Being a writer and editor totally gets in the way! But I’m learning.

Micro blogs rock😊 Join in.

Is that a thing? I feel like someone just revealed the best kept secret!

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

Hahaha. Haikubot, when are you ever going to detect Haiku in my writing?

haikubot is the best haha

Totally is😄😉
Check out @partiko, best for that.

I use Partiko, but mostly for commenting. It can be difficult for people to figure out how to comment on and upvote posts from partiko. I convert partiko links to Steemit links when I’m in the desktop.
