DTube vs YouTube Earnings |

WATCH ON DTUBE

WHO PAYS MORE?

January saw a massive influx, relatively speaking, of new users on the DTube platform - myself included. There is a common theme amongst creators moving across from YouTube - earnings. For smaller creators, it is a no-brainer in my opinion. YouTube has basically made it clear that no small creator can monetise on their platform anymore - not directly from the partnership program anyway (there are other methods)

What of the mid-size to larger creators? How are the earnings compared between these two platforms?

I thought I’d make a quick video, since I’ve been here now for about a month, comparing the earning potential earnings of both platforms. I’ve been on YouTube for a while. One of my channels has just under 9k subs, and gets around 30-40k views per month. In this video I show you the earning stats from both platforms.

🙏🏿 DTube doesn’t yet have its own stats, so I am grateful to @dragosroua for giving the Steem blockchain community Steem.Supply which is a tool that I use all the time.

Good video, Adé. I agree with your conclusion that DTube offers greater reward for your efforts. In the interests of balance it is worth saying that during the comparison period you uploaded a staggering 41 videos to DTube and only 2 to YouTube. Fresh content drives growth and potential revenues on both platforms, as you know. It would have been good to compare like versus like in terms of number of videos. Also, DTube allows you to earn for 7 days and YT allows you to earn off your videos for your lifetime. That said, YouTube does definitely favour entertainment and celebrity based content rather than yours or mine. We are better off here!

You're absolutely right. There was a time period when I uploaded the same volume of videos on YouTube (back when I first started that channel) and participated in a Vidtember (1 video a day for 30 days in September, plus a few extra). Even the the revenue was bumped up slightly, it didn't really move the needle much.

Also, like you said, I have over 100 videos on that channel, all still generating views. So actually, the last 30 days only saw me uploading 2-3 videos, a huge portion of the views came from old videos.
Most people don't upload 'evergreen' stuff though, so they get the initial views, and that's it, apart from the trickle 10 - 20 extra views in the video's lifetime.

It's not really scientific, for sure, but I think it demonstrates how an absolute beginner can earn a LOT more potentially on DTube than on YouTube (who wont even allow any monetisation at present).

Thank you for making this video! This should show all people who are interested in posting their content on DTube that it’s more than just worth checking out. It’s time to finally switch!

Thanks bro. If I was just starting out, I'd definitely pick DTube.

Super curious! Good work on passing onward to Dtube.

Dtube is the best !!!!!!!

Thanks for the video. It's pretty encouraging to see how this platform is really helping people out. Have a good one and keep up the good work.

Great comparison thanks for sharing. New to DTube and it seems like a great platform so far.

It is. Welcome and keep shinning bright 🌟

sounds interesting the comparison between youtube and dtube and looks more enticing right now to me

could not agree more. youtube is dead and dying. the kind of 'user' they want they are very clear about, it's only about 'marketable' content they decide on and even then it's they own you, not you own your channel and content. it's a shit show.

Yup. It's even worse than that sadly. If they decided they don't want to monetise your stuff, they stop pushing it, because, why would they? No monetisation means they're not making money either. They've basically decided to drop the creators that helped build the platform and making a move for celebs and Cable TV type shows.

i just recorded a video and uploaded it to dlive about it actually ;) my first test! :)

Great way to see the massive difference between real community and some people watching you content without engaging the person who delivers it!

Exactly. Community is key!
