Hebrews 9:27-28
(27) And as it is APPOINTED unto men ONCE to die, but after this THE JUDGMENT:
(28) SO CHRIST WAS ONCE OFFERED to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto SALVATION.

As a messenger on the go, it is very important to know what your message is! A true messenger of Christ is someone who knows the truth. It is important to know ‘the Message.’ Paul wrote to the Colossians: “We PREACH CHRIST, warning people NOT to ADD to THE MESSAGE. We teach in a spirit of profound common sense so that we can bring each person to maturity. To be mature is to be basic. Christ! No more, no less” (Colossians 1:28 MSG). The message that wins souls and establishes lives in God’s purpose is Christ Jesus.

Our text is a passage of scripture that has been grossly misunderstood when reaching out to the unsaved. Contrary to most interpretations of this scripture, the writer’s focus isn’t ‘the judgement’ as much as it the salvation that is available to us today because, “… CHRIST WAS ONCE OFFERED TO BEAR THE SINS OF MANY.” This scripture is not about the judgment of the unsaved after death. Of course, there is judgment after death but in context, it is actually saying that Jesus has died for us and the judgment that was once due us because of our sins came upon him.

Vs 27 says, “…it is appointed…” the word appointed there means “reserved for one.” If I come to an event and I see a table labeled, “reserved” I will not go and sit there because it is not 'appointed' unto me. It is ‘appointed’ to a particular person other than me. This verse is saying a particular kind of death was ‘appointed’ or reserved as a price for men who sinned to pay! No man could ‘die’ that kind of death so Jesus came paid the price of death as a substitute for us.

Jesus referred to this is substitutionary death as ‘this cup’ when He prayed in the garden of Gethsemane, “... O my Father, if THIS CUP may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.” ‘This cup’ is the appointed death that defeated Death. Thank God, Jesus came and became the eternal sacrifice for us and the judgment due us came upon him. Thank God, He chose to come!

Your Message to the world isn’t ‘the judgment’ but ‘the salvation’ that has come as a result of the judgement! Vs. 28 says, “SO Christ was offered ONCE to bear the SINS of MANY…” Praise the Lord! The Message translation says, "Christ's death was also a one-time event, but it was A SACRIFICE that took CARE OF SINS FOREVER. And so, when he next appears, the outcome for those eager to greet him is, precisely, salvation” (Hebrews 9:28). Jesus was judged and sins were taken care of FOREVER! Nobody needs to run from God on account of sin again because Jesus took care of it.

Jesus said to his disciples in John 12:32, “… if I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw ALL to myself.” When he was lifted up on that cross, like a lightning rod, he attracted all the guilt, condemnation, the consequences of man’s sins to Himself. His sacrifice took care of sins forever! Sin's curse is broken! Sicknesses, poverty, lack and defeat are taken care of.

Tell the unsaved that the death appointed unto them has been fulfilled. Jesus has been offered ONCE as a perfect sacrifice to bear ALL their sins. Tell the unsaved that they no longer have to die if only they believe in what He has done. This is goodnews worth sharing with everyone! Glory to God! Make sure you share this truth with someone today!

CONFESSION:
I am a true messenger of Christ who is sharing the true message of the finished work of Jesus. Everywhere I go, I will let men and women know their sins are eternally forgiven and salvation is available to them in Jesus Christ.
