Announcing Actifit V2 Reward System: Activity, content, engagement, user ranks, delegation, moderation and more

in #actifit5 years ago

Today, three months post launching Actifit, and as we have been revamping our approach to Actifit rewards, considering tons of feedback we received from the community, and our perspective to foster and scale with further growth of Actifit following HF20..

We are excited to announce today the launch of a major update and enhanced V2 of Actifit reward distribution system.

V2 Reward System Vision

Actifit's original reward system focused on one aspect, tracked activity. This is a key idea behind Actifit, which is incentivising users to be more active, healthy, and fit.
We have received lots of feedback regarding how Actifit rewards contributions, and based upon our own perception and revision for the last period, we decided to come up with a revamped reward system focused on several aspects which we believe will help Actifit in several aspects, including further growth, rewarding more users, fighting abuse, increasing content quality, incentivizing further support from the community, further involving our moderators, increasing engagement and build up the essentials of our AFIT market economy.

New Reward Model Backbones

The new reward model handles 3 aspects of rewards, which will also have further components added in later stages. As of this date, the aspects are as follows:

Actifit User Rank

We have created our own Actifit User Rank, which is not only a number that users can see and brag about, yet will have its implications on the rewards that users earn, as we explain further below.
The user rank determines the involvement of each user in Actifit along several aspects, and ranges from 0 - 100:

Delegation: Delegation as many of your are already aware is a great indicator and important aspect of support to Actifit project and its community. Delegations enable us to reward users further with Steem upvotes. The new rank system relies on the amount of delegations as one factor to determine the total user rank of each user. Token distribution system for delegators will remain the same as before, with a daily pool of 100,000 AFIT tokens distributed according to contribution.

Accumulated AFIT Tokens: The amount of AFIT tokens every user holds is another factor that determines the rank the user has. The more tokens, the higher the rank. Tokens so far have been obtained via delegation, Actifit reports, upvotes/resteems, and special rewards; The delegation option will still continue as is, the Actifit reports will be subject to this new system, similarly the upvote system will have a new approach, we will be dropping though the Resteem rewards as they haven't been used much in the past. Special rewards will still be available through competitions, special posts, or other potential rewards. We are dropping for now the resteem option as it hasn't been much used nor as effective as was intended.
More options to acquire AFIT tokens will be announced in the coming weeks, particularly as we launch our new user signup system.

Rewarded Post Count: As we aim to reward people who submit more often, this criteria incentivizes just that; the more activity you submit that gets rewarded, the higher your rank.

Recent Rewarded Activity: This aspect considers how many activity reports have been submitted by the user for the last 10 days, and hence the more you have been active recently, the higher your rank.
So as you noticed in the above, the User Rank is a dynamic number that gets affected by several factors and could increase or decrease over time.
To see your current Rank, you can visit actifit.io, login, and your Rank will show at the top menu bar to the right, just before your token count.

Actifit Report Reward System

The new reward system relies on several components, as follows:
Activity Count: The old post actifit reward system was quite simple, as you can see below.
Old Model:

ActivityReward
5,000 to 5,99920 tokens
6,000 to 6,99935 tokens
7,000 to 7,99950 tokens
8,000 to 8,99965 tokens
9,000 to 9,99980 tokens
10,000 and above100 tokens

With this update, we kept the activity count as one factor of the reward, yet instead of rewarding 100 tokens based on activity, the activity count now constitutes a large portion of the reward factor (25%), so the new minimum a user can get via 5,000 activity is 4 AFIT tokens (max is 25 AFIT tokens), if all other factors are zeros - which takes into consideration new signups.

User Rank: As we explained the factors that constitute the user rank in the section above, user rank constitutes also a large portion of the reward factor (25%). Hence the more engaged in the project, the more active you are, the higher your reward.

Content & Moderation: Content now constitutes an indicator in the reward as well. Actifit has been long considered as a spamming dapp, and while we had highlighted in many occasions that not all dapps need to be content focused, and we have been continuously fighting and banning abusers, yet at this stage we believe content is helping us in our fight against abuse, but also to improve the perception of Actifit across the whole ecosystem.
Hence we put some more focus on the content, whereby the text of the report, images, as well as moderator's review/upvote of the post will all play a role in the reward of the post, with each constituting a 10% portion of the score.

Community Engagement: Another aspect that hasn't been much strong for Actifit is community engagement. Although we've had a curation trail setup per community's request, yet upvote trails are not what we are really looking for. We want to help build and grow the community, which is why some of the key indicators of reward are now the useful comments as well as the upvotes that the post receives. Upvote value does not dictate how many tokens the post will receive, we have considered this as a single vote per each user. Yet for the upvoter, this will be a different story as highlighted below. Each factor also constitutes 10% of the reward.

Summing up all factors above determines the score of the post, which is used to determine both the number of AFIT tokens that it will receive, but also the Steem upvote percentage, distributed among all actifit reports according to their score, at the time of upvote.

As before, rewards are cast upon Actifit bot reaching its 100% VM. This time we have improved our Voting bot so that both Steem votes and AFIT tokens are distributed on the spot. Similarly after each voting session Total token count per each user will be updated. Those are important modifications over the old approach whereby there was a delay between upvote window and token distribution, as well as calculation.
Please also note that all factors above are calculated at the moment of Actifit upvote/reward. Hence all engagement will be calculated based upon the time of upvote, and any following engagement will NOT affect the post's rewards, nor will it get rewarded itself

Upvote Reward System

The prior upvote system rewarded all upvotes to Actifit posts, even those that took place to older posts. This enticed users to simply upvote old posts and/or follow the curation trail. Upvotes also had a standard reward of 1 AFIT token per upvote.
In our effort to improve engagement, and similarly to how Steem upvotes bring rewards to both report owners and upvoters, yet under our own approach to do that, the new upvote system works as follows:

  • Rewards to the report: as we highlighted in prior section, we are not considering the value of the upvote to reward the post itself. The upvote count is the indicator that plays a role in the final score and AFIT tokens the post receives.
  • Rewards to the upvoter: Under the new system, we have assigned a total of 10 AFIT tokens for each report as a total reward. The new system takes a snapshot of all cast upvotes at the moment when the reward session starts, and considers the percentage of contribution amount of each upvoter as a percentage of total post Steem rewards (rshares returned by Steem API divided by total_shares and multiplied by the potential payout, which determines the reward amount each upvoter gets), and hence we determine the portion of the 10 AFIT tokens max total pool that each upvoter receives. Of course higher upvotes get a larger portion of this share, posts with payouts less than 1 SBD will have a lower pool, as a percentage of the 10 AFIT tokens. You will see both higher and lower number of AFIT tokens being distributed upon upvotes, as the number is no longer a constant.

V2 System Kickoff

We had completed the coding and testing of our new system. The system will launch its first session the next time the Actifit bot reaches 100%, expected in few hours.
We aim to keep tweaking and improving our reward system in efforts to improve and further grow Actifit and its community.

We had more updates planned, but we decided to focus this post on this major change.

Thank you to all delegators for the wonderful support! To see the list of all our Delegators, check out actifit.io/delegators

Delegators share a max cap of 100K AFIT tokens according to their delegation amount, and also earn a 5% beneficiary reward from actifit posts' beneficiary earnings.

Since many ask, here we describe again an easy way to calculate your AFIT tokens for a full day of delegations:
(Your Delegated SP) * 100,000 AFIT MAX / (Actifit Account Delegated SP - without account own SP and any delegators who opted out).
So for instance if you had delegated 100 SP, your daily earnings would be around:
100 * 100,000 / 143,000 = 69.93 AFITs

We are always appreciative of more delegations to be able to better award actifitters and support our project, so thank you for doing that !

When you are looking to increase your delegation, you need to use the new total amount as the delegation amount, and not only the increased amount. Otherwise only the new amount will be used, and the remaining amount will be undelegated.

To delegate, you can use any of the following links:
10SP, 20SP, 30SP, 50SP, 100SP, 250SP, 500SP, 1,000SP, 5,000SP, 10,000SP, 20,000SP, Custom Amount
Make sure you have at least 20 SP left on your account.

This is, obviously, a huge announcement. Actifit keeps evolving, and that's just awesome to see. I find the new reward system a bit complicated, but hopefully it will also be robust and fair to all involved, and facilitate the project's continued growth.

The post had some issues of style and grammar, which I'll happily detail in a follow-up comment if wanted, but those did not significantly hurt its readability. Apart from that, this is an awesome update.

Thank you for your review, @didic!

So far this week you've reviewed 12 contributions. Keep up the good work!

OK, I see my rank once loged in. But how can I see who is above me?
Who is #1 , #2 or top-10 ?
Is this possible?

hey @onealfa,
At the moment there is no listing page which displays such info. We will build more functionality soon around User Rank to allow viewing further details, including community ranks :)

While I appreciate the effort to improve engagement, only having 25% of the reward related to actual physical activity seems rather low to me. After all the whole point is rewarding physical rather than mental or financial activity. The rest of Steem does the last 2 quite well but Actifit was unique in rewarding based on physical activity.
I think the balance has move too far away from the core purpose of Actifit.

Hey @apshamilton,

Thank you for the feedback.
While the Activity count on the post itself has 25% influence, yet other factors which directly or indirectly relate to the activity still have additional influence over the post's rewards:

  • User rank, contains 2 out of 4 factors which relate to the user's activity. The more rewarded activity you have, and the more "recent" rewarded activity you have, the higher rank you have, and hence higher rewards.
  • Moderation review: Actifit moderators look for activity amounts, as well as proper activity description and content in the post.
Those factors alone added to the 25% increase the percentage and influence of tracked Activity itself to around 45%.
Other factors such as the content and the community engagement (upvotes/comments), although not necessarily relate 100% to the activity amount, yet we believe and aim that as the community realizes "and gets rewarded" for authentic and manual engagement, will only reward high quality and authentic activity reports.

Hope this makes sense!

You’ve really made a big mistake here. It’s really discouraged me from recommending Actifit to others and I’m debating whether it’s worth my time using the app. From a simple system that directly reward physical activity, it’s now another circlejerk that mainly rewards insiders who delegate and who had lots of Actifit tokens already from prior delegation. It also penalizes iOS users who only had a few weeks to accumulate Actifit tokens from activity vs Android who had many months.

Wow, thats a lot of work that was done. But now, I have a little problem, as I delegated SP to @actifit with my main account while using my special actifit-account for actifit posts. That means, I miss the oppotunity to reach the best rank as parts of it rely on delegations. Am I right?

I didnt read this blog post, but I agree with you. Seems like they did a lot... haha

Do not be concerned as we will have a new feature that will solve this issue for you and everyone else. It's a great feature we're gonna be enabling soon ;)

Well, thats nice to read. I can think of the kind feature. Looking forward to it! Keep on the amazing work!

That's great to hear, given the changes! Since amount of accrued tokens is a ranking factor, will the new feature combine the tokens of the main and actifit accounts as well, for the purpose of ranking?

Looks like a good update to this app...

This looks very exciting to me and you have put a lot of brain into the new reward-system. I still need to read it a few more times, but I can see the whole picture already, how it is working. WOW, my rank is 30.5 ! Yeah, the challenge is to get up to 80, 90 and above. Lets do it!

good luck with that rank

Wow, exciting stuff! Can't wait to see how this work... thanks for inspiring us to move and be active! You will keep seeing my daily submission... ;)

Keep exploring...
@extremejogging

whats the most uve been able to jog?

My most is 80k steps in one day... exactly a week ago! ;)

My only concern is that if i upvote 10 actifit post so previously i was getting around 10 actifit tokens so after the new system how many will i get if i upvoted 10 times or even 100 ?

Excellent question.
This all depends now on your upvote value and curation reward based upon Steem's approach, the early and higher your upvote, the more tokens you receive.
Instead of upvoting lots of posts, i would focus on upvoting best ones early on and with higher percentage

So basically it is good for those who have lots of steem power and bad for those with less steem power...
Frankly speaking i use to love the old system of voting where atleast everyone's vote was equal irrespective of there voting power. Everything apart i still support actifit..

Not necessarily.
Per Steem system, early curators (upvoters) even with small upvotes could be eligible for a good portion of the reward. Of course early curators with higher upvotes will get a larger share. So its about timing and amount. This will reflect accordingly on your AFIT token rewards.

Adjustments are always needed to adapt to changes. However, the fact remains that this continues to be an excellent way to engage within the ecosystem and grow with the community while at the same time focusing on your health which should always be a goal for us all! Look forward to seeing the implications of this going forward as the community grows and we prepare for the Smart Media Tokens (SMTs) next year!

Hello. I'm Frizzy, and I have some questions. I'm interested in Actifit, and I have downloaded the app onto my phone. I've even used it. However, I'm a rather new Steemit user, and I didn't upload my report because I thought I needed to delegate to be upvoted and the like. Is this fact?

Also, I wonder about these AFIT tokens. Are they crypto? I apologize for my ignorance...

hey @frizzy,
no worries at all!
You do not need to delegate to Actifit to post and get rewarded. Delegation increases your user rank and rewards, but is NOT a requirements.
AFIT tokens are crypto, they are an SMT on the Steem blockchain, to be officially launched as planned by Steemit Inc on March 2019.
