My first crypto purchase

in #eth7 years ago

I remember my first crypto purchase rather well. Freshly mined coins that were finally selling on an exchange, so exciting! Turning electricity into something physical, wow the thrill!

In fiat the headset I wanted that would improve my CS:GO surround sound was only $100. That was just a few weeks of early mining, surely I can mine more ether for later, let's do this.

Few weeks later, GPU turns out to start glitching, went to the shop and of course the warranty had ran out. Oh well, I still got one working so it's fine. I better not mine with this one though in case it breaks too.

A few years later Ethereum goes up to an ATH of $1300. My face when I realized my headset cost me $110k and I wasn't even using that one anymore, not to mention I never mined more.

The good old days.

Honestly I can't remember my first crypto purchase but I can definitely remember my first crypto conversation.

"Hey maybe we should mine some Bitcoin."

"What's it worth?"

"Well I think one coin is worth $0.01"

"Go suck a lemon."

It never occurred to me in a million years that the value would go up and I don't know why.

You'd never know at the time if ETH will even worth anything more than it already did. Truth be told I'm in the camp of "ETH is too expensive to do what it does".

This situation is the only comforting thing that I can find, to justify my late entrance in the crypto world.

Feels bad! And the worst part is that you would have fixed that GPU all day long if you knew how valuable ETH would become...

Damn ! Thanks for sharing that story, it’s painful in hindsight to realize the gains that could have been. But there will be more bull runs in the future where hopefully we have learned from our “mistakes”
