MoonSteem Competition
I've been meaning to make a post about @moonsteem but only recently have had the time to start posting again after a long break. I'm not usually a big fan of dice and gambling but this one caught my eye and even though I haven't been able to play a lot lately I still find it to be really fun and hang out in chat from time to time. That's the cool part of it, that it has the social interaction, tipping and a little bit of competition between each other each bet, but first let me explain how it works.
This is the interface with the chat showing:
How you play is you deposit Steem and receive 1000x the amount in "Steemies" then there are rounds and you have about 5 second time to place your bet. At any point you can cash out your bet when you feel the multiplier is high enough, but when it crashes everyone with still active bets will lose their bet. The dapp is provably fair with a 1-2% house edge, people can also invest in the house and earn a return when players lose. Recently they also added a lucrative token economy where the tokens get distributed to players, investors, promoters, etc. Here's a view from my token page:
Without getting too deep into the technicalities, I wanted to check if there are any players wanting to try this out and figured I could brag about my Top Profit position at the same time with a little contest. :)
To enter the competition, here's what you gotta do:
Use my ref link: https://www.moonsteem.com/?ref=acidyo (uses steemconnect)
Beat my high score of 482 Steem profit and win 100 Steem! Link to leaderboard
Once you get on my affiliate page I will throw you a small vote in the comments and 100 Steemies tip so you can test the game, but you can also upvote any active @moonsteem post or comment to get some Steemies to play with which I think is a pretty cool function.
Good luck and feel free to ask if there is anything, either here in the post or in the chat. :)
The house edge is not dynamic anymore. It is set to 2% now.
I will beat your record in no time!😄
rip your steem xD
Haha yeah
I like this game and I would really like to beat your score, but I'm not as lucky as you ;P
I've been playing since it started. It's Super addicting. :)\
The only thing I'm confused about is what are the tokens used for? Can I spend/invest them? I haven't come across any info or explanation about the tokens from the moonsteam guys.
Yeah I don't know either, and what happens after the first year? Hopefully they have something cool in mind.
Haven't played @moonsteem yet but will give it a try. Have tried all kinds of other similar "moon" options and you're right, they're definitely more fun than dice.
Burning tokens that are just held (not staked) by users seems odd - do you know what the rationale is? Typically, schemes like that would want to incentivize long-term holders, which doesn't seem to be the case here...

I think it's to get players to play more daily than go all out once and earn most tokens but not sure really. Probably something with balancing the tokens out.
Used your referral code to sign up, so make sure you get the reward :-)
Not a good start, however:

Hope that gets better :-D
Oh cool, will send you the tip! Thanks for using my link, how did you like the game?
Interesting. Will have a look at it and try it out. It is true that in those classic schemes players are incentivized to play a lot early and not at all later, and they're very Ponzi-y in that respect. So incentivizing later-stage activity combined with unlimited token supply and a burning mechanism could lead to longer-term interest in the game.
Just feels weird to own tokens that get fewer and fewer. Seems you'd rather keep those tokens under your pillow...

I see my name. I like :D
on autoplay? :D
Yes. Manual play just burns my account faster. Just can't trust my greedy hands. XD
;D
Moon Steem is getting pretty popular. However, this is not my kind of game... Haha!
More fun than regular dice in my opinion, but yeah gambling is only fun if you're doing it for fun. ^^
I agree with you and specifically about gambling... I can't see anything funny if it's not something innocent (I mean, without all that financial greed that messes everything up).
Haha I enjoyed checking this one out and might come back to it. The fun seems to be in not playing it to win bigSteemies and the rate of 1:1000 means you can have fun in whole numbers with little wagered. I ain't gona be claiming your 100 lol although in these early days my 1steem wagering got me to 29 on the leaderboard. It certainly offers to burn time in the manner that your gif smokes social media ;) ...nice one, thanks 🔆
Nope. Too poor. :)
