🎨The Lichen Tree_original watercolour drawing

in #art8 years ago

I simply love the trees. When I was a kid, I climbed into all the trees in my parent's yard. I knew in the smallest detail every tree, its shape, its branches. These "living organisms", which have grown on Earth for thousands of years, are really amazing.

When you've ever touched the bark of a tree, have you seen how different they are? Trees have beautiful and specific textures and they are kind of fingerprints for each tree specie.

Trees have always been my inspiration for my watercolors. In my childhood woods, I saw trees sometimes partial covered in lichens, very beautiful and colourful. This combination in symbiosis between trees and lichens is so fascinating. The patterns of lichens are some of most creative things on the Earth.

These memories where my inspiration for this watercolour and I hope you'll find this texture very interesting.

As you can see in the pictures I used grungy salt to get a texture closer to lichen texture. The effect of salt on watercolour pigments is amazing. You have to try it! 😊

According to Wikipedia:
"Different kinds of lichens have adapted to survive in some of the most extreme environments on Earth: arctic tundra, hot dry deserts, rocky coasts, and toxic slag heaps. They can even live inside solid rock, growing between the grains."
What an amazing organisms are lichens, adaptable to any environment!

I also love trees and nature, but I can't climb trees. Actually, I never tried to climb one.
The lichens on the tree on your painting is well detailed and the whole painting is beautiful!
I also like that you painted the roots of the tree. You paid good attention to this painting and I see that you really love trees. I think everyone, who see this painting can see that.
There must be hours of work in this painting. I wonder how many hours you put into it?

This is a very easy drawing, less than 30 minutes and was done. Thank you for your appreciation and comment!

This is really beautiful !!!
I love that salt texture !

Thank you! :)

Love it, U really captured the structure of lichens! So clever. i spend minutes and hours to observe the complicated tree "anatomy". It's hard to understand and paint shape of the crown and branches. Great work. Look at my posts if U like art :).

You are very kind! Thank you for your comment!

I feel bad now, I didn't even know what lichens were hahaha. I used salt a few times but it's tricky because if you want to correct something later it can be difficult.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you too @siucatti! :)
