This art is related with the city of "Madhubani" and was originated in a small village known as Maithli and hence known as Mithila paintings.. ,,
This art work is practised in India and some places of Nepal's lowland.
Mostly and widely the village women drew the Mithila paintings on the walls of their homes,as doing this and follow on they try to respect and preserve the tradition..
The basic concept through all over the region is common.subject of painting based on their individual thoughts,hopes,illustration and dreams..
Paintings theme is inspired of lords ,Rama,Krishna,Shiva or Goddess like laxmi,Durga.
Some mythological events are also have the subject of these paintings like moon,sun etc..
The art theme is symbolic sometimes for example : fish,which denotes as a symbol of prosperity in India.
With the passing time these art works started becoming a part of festivities and used in many occasion here in India like on a new born birth,marriage or some special events.
As per sayings the first reference to this painting date backs to the' Ramayana period,"when king of mithila Janaka orders to paint these paintings on his daughters Sitàs wedding...
In 1970's when India's President awarded Jagadambs devi of Jitarpue village then this art comes with highlights,Bua devi,Bhati dayal and Gangs devi are some well known artist of these paintings..
Due to this art work the Madhubani indicates as (GI).
