Pangolin

The animals above is call pangolin and it is also known as scaly anteaters.
I want share with you something small about pangolin that I know.

What is a pangolin?
The name pangolin is from the Malay word pengguling, meaning ”rolling over”. Many people think pangolins are reptiles but no, pangolins are mammals. Although we have different mammals that has scales but pangolin is the only mammal that is wholly covered with scales. Pangolins uses their scales to protect themselves from predators. If they are under threat, they immediately curl or roll into a tight ball-like shape and uses their tails to defend themselves. Other way they use in their defense is an emission of an odorous secretion from their large anal glands which push predators away
Pangolins are edible, they are use for meat some also use it for medicine. The meat of pangolins are very sweet but very difficult to get.

What do pangolins eat?
Pangolins are also known as scaly anteaters because of their preferred diet. Pangolins are insectivores as they eat various species of ants and termites. They have no teeth so they pick up the food with their sticky tongue. They have a very long tongue

Habitat of pangolins.
Naturally, pangolin can be found in forest and grasslands. They usually lives in hollow trees and burrows
They can be found in Africa and Asia.

Species of pangolin
In all, we have eight species of pangolin and they lives in two continent. Four species are found in Asia and the other four are found in Africa. The species that are in Asia are Chinese pangolin, Indian pangolin, Sunda pangolin and Philippine pangolin. And those who are found in Africa are the White-bellied pangolin, Black-bellied pangolin, Giant pangolin and Temminck’s pangolin.
