paradoxes that will make your head explode ( part one )
The logical paradoxes described by philosopher Mark Sainsbury are conclusions that seem unacceptable but based on logical analysis and logical premises.
Paradoxes have been an essential part of philosophical thinking for centuries, always challenging our interpretation of seemingly simple situations, turning what we see right upside down !!
Here are some logical paradoxes to test your logical thinking
1- Boy or Girl ?
If I tell you that a family has two children, one of them is a boy. What is the probability that the second child is also a boy?
You might think - like most people that the answer is "50%",
but in fact is a "1/3" ! Yes a "1/3" ...
look at the possibilities here :
The eldest child boy, the youngest child girl.
The eldest child girl, the youngest child boy.
The eldest child boy, the youngest child boy.
The eldest child girl, the youngest child girl.
and Since we know that there is a boy, we can delete the fourth possibility (two girls) .
Thus, the probability of 1, 2 and 3 remain the same . The third probability is one-third "1/3" .
2- The paradox of stone
This paradox is a copy of the absolute power paradox.
Can an absolute power object create a stone so heavy that it can not carry it ?
If the answer is yes, then this object stops being an absolute power
and if the answer is no, so this object has not been of absolute ability from the beginning .!! is not it !!
