Cantata is a graphical client for MPD (Music Player Daemon). Cantata started as a fork of QtMPC, however over time it broke of it's dependencies and the code of QtMPC and now only depends on Qt and MPD. Cantata is often used by advanced users but it can even be used by beginners.

It's super lightweight on the system on terms of resources, highly customisable, supports variety of audio formats, simply powerful compared to other music player etc.

I would like to apologize about the pictures. Since Cantata is used by very few users, normally not many developers would look into it and develop skins and ad ons for it. However the developer of Cantata "Craig" is involved in many great linux projects. One example would be Kvantum. There are other applications, a famous example would be Rythmbox & Clementine which is more popular on the other hand. But the sad truth about it is, unlike Cantata, rythmbox & Clementine has many bugs that are still not fixed but on the other hand fixed on Cantata. Cantata is a really well developed software which works great all around.
