Join us on our family days out around Ireland
Every Sunday, or at least most Sundays, my wife and I like to do something nice with our 2 boys. There is always the option of the zoo in Dublin, which is really nice, then there are some really nice playgrounds around as well, and there are quite a few soft play zones nearby which the kids love too. But more recently, what we really enjoy is going to outdoor places, like forests, beaches, parks etc.. We are blessed with lots of natural beauty and scenery here on the emerald isle, so we thought, why not embrace them..
So, what I'd like to do is, take you with us on some of these little adventures around Ireland.
This Sunday, we went to Laytown beach in County Meath.
Because it was a rainy day, we had the entire beach, pretty much to ourselves, and the boys could run freely. Our youngest, who is almost 2 loves the freedom to run about. But it is very hard to get him to leave! The tantrums kick in... he has already started the terrible twos, as they call them... Or a good one I heard lately, he has become a Two-ligan.
What a brilliant turn-of-phrase! :)
Here he is pre-tantrum. I think he is telling me "See your car up there Daddy, well I don't want to go back there for at least seven and a half hours... ok.."
It was really nice just walking along the beach, letting the boys explore. They found Jellyfish, Crablegs and all manner of shells. I've never seen so many shells..
There is a beautiful sculpture overlooking the beach as you pull up in your car. It was commissioned in 2004 and goes by the name Voyager and was inspired by the sea and the myriad of life that is contained within it.
There was something really cool about the little cottage at the bottom of the beach. I'm not sure if it is inhabited or derelict, I'll have to have a closer look the next time we visit, hopefully it is a bit warmer by then! Although, we won't have the place to ourselves then..
Well, I hope you enjoyed joining us for our little Sunday adventure, until next time, mind yourselves.
