Sharing Philippine Favorites: Pan de Coco
PAN DE COCO
Pan de Coco is a very popular bread in the Philippines. It is also known as coconut bread in English. These soft buns are sold in almost all bakeries in the country!
The inside has a rich and sweet shredded coconut filling. The top of the bun has a golden color with a beautiful shine. This is achieved through an egg wash.
I bought these snacks at only P5.00 pesos. This means you can buy 10 of these yummies at only 1 USD! Can you believe that? For those interested, these were from Park and Go bakeshop. They have several branches in Cebu and there's also a branch in Leyte.
The coconut ingredient can be freshly grated or dehydrated. Fresh coconuts are almost always sold in the wet markets while the desiccated ones are in the supermarket.
