When it comes to marketing a verse fills your purse!
Although I been buying steem-engine tokens I've been wondering and a bit worried what will become after smts are released.
But, also I been wondering, wouldn't be way of running them on both sidechains, sort of like what appics plans on doing on steem and eos? I also think I saw it mentioned somewhere, can't remember though.
I'm not am expert on the situation, but I imagine there will be a mixed bag of approaches. Looking at ERC20, Eos, Tron and BNB tokens gives us an example. These were all ERC20 tokens at one point. ETH hasn't been mastered by any of them yet and they all managed to thrive while leaving. A coherent plan is a must.
I'm not sure if a side chaim will work. I imagine some integration will be possible, but we don't have enough details on SMTs yet.

Im just hoping steemit inc will somehow manage to make the smts code interoperable with that of scots etc and pray for the best.
But it's all easier said than done i guess...
But yeah, a coherent plan is needed as for now, even steemians are easily getting confused, the normie would be overwhelmed minute 1.
Awesome post, informative, a bit of satire, and perspectives i think we share. I am calling this prefork-scot driven novelty or trend "Frankensteem" and I see only a select few surviving into the very near future.
Steemleo seems viable to me as its got a broad stroke and essentially likely interests all steemians to some degree. Who doesn't like making money or at least talking about how to make money?
The looooooong list of coins and fledgling communities behind them are comedy to me, even the most beloved pal seems entirely destined to get lost in the sea of steem as its just a sort of prequel to the hardfork and a subset or microcosm of the fractured ecosystem.
There are well intended people involved that I respect but otherwise the value is top heavy and feeding off the momentum of small accounts that got used to the msp upvote so they're clinging to pal now. When they end up getting the same or less value of pal they were getting in steem they will feel disenfranchised and not part of the "trend"
I'm not holding my breath anything will show any glimmers of hope to the outside world until months after the eip when the dust settles, when smt is running, and when steem Devs get their heads out of their ass and join the 21st century with a mobile first design approach.
This place is too geeked up to ever lure in regular people and tribalism isn't helping that. Newsteem same shit price

I'm interested in discussing which coins will fail and why. It can even help the captains who sail those ships.
I also feel Pal seems to be an attempt at forking Steem.
Some of these coins will thrive, but most will flop. They say 90% of coins will go bust. I see no harm in collecting them, but buying them (with Steem) is quite risky.
I know for certain 1 steem = 1 steem.
Your point about mobile first makes a lot of semse. I use Partiko a lot, but they don't have a proper coin, maybe they are waiting for SMTs since their points do as much or more than most steem coin tokens now.
Indeed it will be interesting to see how this shakes out.and yes pal is some kind of attempt at a fork in a way.
Definitely no harm in collecting them, I've already sold some weed as I don't see myself contributing much to that forum and I'm unstaking my pal for the same reasons, trading that out for negligible amounts of bnb and btc while I wait and see seems wise for my situation.
I think we all can agree money talks and hence I see steemleo perhaps building a solid foundation. Sports are of course also another subject that transcends language, borders, cultures etc.
As far as partiko their team is MIA and nobody is on discord, no updates and after trolling them i finally got told they're "transitioning" what that cryptic month old reply means is an enigma.
They used to be ahead of the curve and very engaging. The lead dev is supposedly in China but left nobody to carry on. Though the bugs seem to be mostly fixed, for weeks I couldn't really use partiko.
I don't know anything about the Asian Scot tokens except the numbers and they're definitely a presence.
I just made a, satirical post as I normally do joking that i should do a dpoll asking which tribes will survive? But, alas I have few followers and my content isn't taken seriously even though I hide very poignant observations in plain sight.

Totally agree. There is no reason for anyone outside of this echo chamber to care what Steemians talk about. EIP, 50/50, newsteem, steemleo... this is all gibberish to the world at large. There's a ton of room for improvement and that's where Steemleo (and all these other communities) should be stepping in to fill the void -- creating a solidified front. Creating a real marketing strategy and then actually deploying it with half a brain. This is what Steem lacks against those coins that are higher than it in market cap and this is one of the many things that Steemleo and other communities should be bringing to the table.
You took the words out of my mouth. There also has to be some moderation here so people who spent a few hundred steem on leo at an opportunistic time don't drive what's trending. Reading most of the content here is disappointing and a huge turn off. This post is great, a post on steem monster speculation or why I love random tokens and am gonna be rich written by a person who has a basic knowledge of economics, not so much.
I have faith and am trying to produce decent content, so newcomers can see it and think, this is a good read, I want to be here.
The nice thing about 50% curation is the whales are not forced to post. Curation is a viable option.
Also, because anyone can acquire Leo, you don't actually need to know anything about finance or investing to be influencial, but I imagine the worst people (those who have moronic investment posts) will give up over time as it becomes popular and they are called out for their dumb opinions.
The nice thing about finance is we can measure the value of an opinion.

This is definitely possible.
I'm sure we will see unique things happening if ine of these communities ends up doing better than Steem, which at this marlet cap isn't unimaginable.

@abitcoinskeptic - loved the blog, you have a lot of good insights. I'll be waiting for your BSBMT, though the tea doesn't sound good to me at all, lol.
Thanks!
Glad I found another human on this planet who isn't excited about this tea.
Trends are a funny business.

Hey great post, very interesting, visionaries can find an early trend, or create one. Bitcoin is a trend, and we are the early adopters. The alts like Steem have trended. Notice how Dan Larimer sets a trend and then goes off and sets another trend, like EOS, or Voice, his new trendy project. I wonder if Steem will ever return to its past highs?
Gangnam style trended for a while and K pop also. It just needs to go viral, so create that meme and set the trend.
Trends are difficult to predict. Bitcoin is still definitely treding and may persist for a lomg time. I also gear fornmost of the alts. Steem should come back but it meeds some fixing up.

True, the alt craze may be a thing of 2017 and they may never return to ATH or keep up with BTC this time around. It's never a certain that the same pattern will repeat with them.
How about a vegan, sugar-free, plant-based milk powered BSBMT? Won't it be trendier than 'plain' BSBMT?
That is going to be the second token. It will do the same thing, but be more expensive and sound more complicated.
