BitShares Core Release 2.0.170531
It's been 14 months since last official BitShares Core release (2.0.160328). Many people think BitShares is a dead project. No, it's not! The community has tagged a new release yesterday: BitShares Core 2.0.170531.

By the way, the BitShares network fee has been significantly reduced yesterday. You are able to transfer with one US Cent again. (Yes, I know transfer in Steem is "free".)
More info will be reported by @steempower.
We are all waiting for BitShares Core 3!
... core 3 ? what features do you expect from ?
Hehe...some of us have super secret plannnns :]
Do I still need boost 5.80 and GCC 5 to build it? I tried over 10 times and never succeeded.
Follow the instructions on the https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-core/ page, or https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-core/blob/master/README.md
Didn't realize boost had that many revisions. I still build with boost 1.57.0 for now, but it can also be built with 1.58 - 1.61.
Great news! I saw the video yesterday posted by @stan and look forward to read more about the funding infusions that have been promised. I think if / when it actually happens this will give Bitshares another boost to the upside.
finaly iam gonne go for that we NEED it now
This was a fantastic video @heiditravels, succinct yet packed with tons of info. Well Done!
Step aside AmandaB, now BitShares has your rival!
Is the life time membership fee been reduced?
All fees have been reduced, including life time membership fee.
Is there still need for bts witnesses? I understand the process is relatively similar with Steemit witnesses.
Sure good witnesses are needed, however BitShares doesn't pay backup witnesses so far. Also it's much harder to get support / votes in BitShares, and price feeding in BitShares is much more important and complicated and is closely monitored by stake holders.
K, got it, thanks. Will give it a try, though, just out of curiosity, when I'll have a bit more time.
@abit what do you mean with "free"? :)
How is it not truly free then?
Implicit cost.
You have to own or be delegated some SP to be able to transfer.
Ahhh fair enough. You're forgetting the ISP bill, the electricity bill and the food you pay for though ;)
How much would that be circa, just any amount? That's a truly interesting piece of information I seem to have missed.
(I guess we're talking about the same SP you pay to get the account, but I'm not sure)
Minimum requirement for transferring is 0.001 SP. Minimum requirement for voting is around 5 SP right now, but may be reduced after Hard Fork 19.
Thank you for the post! BitShare is hot today! Upvoted un followed! :)
Are you a BitShares developer?
I think I can say yes.
Thank you for sharing the information with us-@abit
