Can objects be refreshing objects? Certainly can. Back again the meaning of refreshing, anything that can make the brain and mind entertained.

For example me, the motor is a form of refreshing object for me. Not only when driving it, but when I assemble the motor from scratch, from junk it can be ridden and artfully high.

A man indeed, has his own way of refreshing. Build something that is craved, enjoy the process, it is refreshing for men.

Zero to Hero

Six months ago, when I returned to Sawang. I found a motor bike 125 cc thunder that has 5 years rusted in the warehouse. Initially did not intend to acquire motor junk it, because this is not my initial plan. To be honest, initially I intend to find a CB bike to be modified again by restoring the original concept. Unfortunately not found, although already traced to the neighboring village.

Because it's been very long wanted to ride two wheels again, I think so why not try just revive thunder it and I costum with the classic concept. I decided to talk to Mr. Johan, he the owner of the thunder, nah pak Johan want to remove the wreck with the price of Rp.500 thousand rupiah. On the same day, it happened that my neighbor who had a pick-up wanted to go to Krueng Geurukuh for groceries shopping. Yes, I offered to transport my junk to the workshop that was there to start the engine. The offer was received at a price of Rp.100 thousand.

I already legendary, the father was the best at the matter of the machine, so I leave my motor so it can be revived. Every three days I call the employee's father, to ask about the state of my motorcycle. For quite a long time also workmanship, it took three weeks to re-start the engine. Moreover, the 125 cc thunder spare parts are very difficult to obtain, need to order first in the field. Total Rp.700 thousand that I spend to re-start the machine. Until now, I've spent money amounting to Rp.1.3 million. I really enjoy the process.

It was my turn to determine the concept of costum that I would build. Starting from looking for costum information, looking for links spare parts costum, until examples of costum motor that is on the internet.

I spent two weeks to solidify the concept I chose. I chose to build a motor with the concept of Japstyle.

Why Japstyle? The considerations are many. First, I was interested in an old motorcycle drawing from World War II, so I wanted to make a motor like that. Secondly, the budget needed to build the japstyle concept is not too big. Third, Japstyle can be used on all terrain, either on asphalt or on the ground as well.

The reason is diverse, but if I think Japstyle is very suitable for use in Indonesia, because it can play in any field.   • Bobber.

Okay, I've set the concept for the flow of the motor that I will wake up, Japstyle. If you want to build a costum motor, what motor stream do you like?

Once the concept has been selected, it is now the turn of the basic blueprint that I can easily explain to the technician (the welder) to make the shape I want.

If you want to make a costum motor, you also need to make the blueprint first. This is very necessary, with our blueprint more easily talk about the concept of the bike with a technician. Because if in case the manufacturing process is wrong, it will be difficult to change. Just make it on a piece of HVS paper, it does not need to be good, the technician and the welder understand what the picture means.

If it is, it is time for you to find the various costum equipment needed. Such as tires, shockbacker, sparkboard, tank, seat, stank, handgrip, spedo, and others. Not all cities are available costum workshop, let alone shop selling costum spare parts. I myself order it from my subscription in Karawang, his name is A'Ipang, he is a trusted costum dealer.

Be careful buying goods carelessly on the internet, because in addition to rampant fraud, also the quality of goods was sometimes dubious. Other than A 'Ipang, I can recommend other sellers. Try searching in Tokopedia, named Budung. She's a girl, her name is quite famous among the costum modifier.

If you already list it, just calculate the dirty budget needed to build a classic motorcycle. Yesterday I estimated about 10 millions. Is this more? Or even less? Let's follow the story I started costum motor from ZERO ...

Custom Motor Technician.

Starting costum motor should not be arbitrary. Must start with a clear stage, so that there are no obstacles in the future. Usually workshops that are used to costum motor already understand, but if you are in a small town whose workshop did not understand how costum? Of course your brain will be drained to guide technicians about what needs to be done.

At that time, I used the services of a mechanic as well as a welder and paint that I had known before. He is named Mr.Buyung, his workshop is located on the outskirts of Lhokseumawe, in Pusong. The workshop is simple, but for me it is enough to be used as a base place for the costum motor. My motor is Mr.Buyung's first project in order to modify the costum motor. So completely inexperienced. But if it's different now, even if you do not understand about costum, you can trust Mr.Buyung.

Modification Process.

  • Motorcycle tires.

The first to be installed was a tire. Our function to install the tire so we know how high the chassis, seat holder, front and rear shok holder, and high sparkboard. Here the task of tires as the determinant of everything. I used the Swallow 400 plane 2.50 / 17 for the rear, and 350 for the 2.50 / 17 for the front. Because of this size offered by A'Ipang. The cost of a pair of tires complete with rim, fingers, tromol, some additional gears, amounting to 2.1 million rupiah. Tires is the most expensive groceries than any other groceries.

  • Custom chassis.

The tire is over, now it's our chassis turn. In my junk motor, my chassis is cut above the rear shock holder. The reason for the rear shock does not need to be in any longer. After the cut, I just connect with stirrup U that I bought for 60 thousand rupiah same A'Ipang. So the welder just plug it into the chassis that had been cut earlier. The welder I've spoiled.

Do not weld die first, adjust the height of the chassis with the tires and spakbor. Because later afraid even ran aground when driving. The height should not be too high not too low. If it is too high look less dashing, because there is empty space, if too low even later can run aground.

Luckily my swing arm does not need to be replaced, because congenital Thunder already looks classic with round bars. If Scorpio needs to be replaced, because the Swing Arm plot shape does not describe the characteristics of classic motor.

  • Rear shock.

Shock behind me replace with RX King shock modification. The first reason, RX King shock higher, so the motor is not easy to run aground. Second, the fat form makes the motor look more handsome. The price of a pair of shock modifications RX King is 410 thousand rupiah.

  • Costume battery cover.

It's a lot of controversy. Some people say no need to use side cover, some say this is the sweetener of the classic costum. For me, I have to wear a side cover. The reason is just one, so the battery does not look out. Thunder can not if there is no battery, because this bike does not use a crank.

  • Classic Seat.

This is the most important part in designing a classic motor. Often the classic of a motorcycle is because of 2 things, namely the appearance of the seat and the shape of the oil tank. After about the height of the chassis fit, new permanent weld stirrup U or newly created chassis. Well just after that I make a seat seat.

I bought a seat with a single racer size, thin and rear slightly swooped up. The color I choose is a light brown color, so that the classic impression is more alive. The price of the seat that I bought was 320 thousand rupiah. If the seat holder is fitted, just where the weld was refined and polished with putty to look beautiful and neat.

  • Tank.

Well, finally got to the tank stage. Buying tanks should not be arbitrary, should be in accordance with the concept of the flow we choose. Because I'm Japstyle, so I chose the appropriate tank, which is a tears drop shape smaller in size than a Harley tank.

The tank price at once is 530ribu rupiah. There is also a cheaper price, for example 300ribu rupiah. It all depends on the quality of the tank. The tank stand needs to be adjusted again, so make sure the tank is not too close to the handlebar and not too far away. Too close can cause the handlebar is not freely moved left to right, too far to make dirty look slim. High tank also I adjust to the height of the seat, so stay in the concept Japstyle.

  • Shockbreaker front.

Shockbacker I can replace with Byson motorcycle. I bought a KW, it costs 720 thousand rupiah. Although KW, the quality is okay have you know, so do not hesitate. The reason I use Shockacker Byson is because the first one, size 400 tires does not fit in the inherent Thunder shockbacker. Second, to look more manly with the larger diameter tube size.

For those of you who want a custom motor with a big front tire, it's important to consider replacing a standard shockbacker with a Byson shockbacker.

  • Lamp.

For the main lights, I chose a round shape with a diameter of about 15 cm and has a classic impression. The price of the main lamp I bought was 150 thousand rupiah. For the lights sein, I choose a rather retro cute shape. It costs 60 thousand dollars for 2 pairs of rear front.

Back lamp / stop lamp price is rather expensive, around 150 thousand rupiah. It must be used, for the safety of others while driving. Also, do not forget to buy the main light ear. Do not get the wrong buy, tell the seller the type of shockbacker we use, because not all sills fit in a certain shockbacker. Because I wear Byson shockbacker, of course I use the main light bulb Byson.

  • Costume knick knacks.

I use Byson handlebar, it costs 60 thousand rupiah. Stang Byson is enough to describe the shape of the classic Japstyle motorcycle. For handgrip, I use a red brick type handgrip model. The price I forgot a bit, about 50 thousand rupiah if not wrong. Spedometer I use retro speedometer, it costs about 50 thousand rupiah. For Japstyle is more suitable to use monospedo.

My contact locks use Suzuki Katana car keys, so here the starter directly through the key. It costs 200 thousand rupiah. Only if you follow-up using a starter like this, should be installed by an experienced technician. My experience, it took all night to connect the electricity from this ignition key. Some other knick knacks such as switches, plates, nuts and other spent funds amounting to 100 thousand dollars.

  • Electricity.

This is the hardest part when wanting to customize a motor. This part must be expertly.

  • Cost breakdown.

Exactly six months my bike finally finished as well.

I am very satisfied with the results, because this is the fruit of my own design, as I see fit.

The total cost I spent on this motorcycle, the rough details as follows:

  • Thunder junk 125 cc = 500 thousand rupiah.

  • Engine repair: 700 thousand rupiah.

  • Tire : 2.1 million rupiah.

  • Shockbacker front rear: 720 thousand rupiah + 410 thousand rupiah = 1.2 million rupiah.

  • Behel U, spakbor, seat, tank, handgrip, handlebar, spedo, side battery cover, tank cover = 2 million rupiah.

  • Front rear lights, lights sein = 500 thousand rupiah.

  • Postal fee= 300 thousand rupiah.

  • Cost of paint, welder, technician, electrician = 3 million rupiah.

  • This knickknacks = 500 thousand rupiah
