From College to Real WORLD
Hello everyone,
Today, I was scrolling through my pics of college time and I realized how my life has changed in the past few months. It has been 8 months since I graduated from college and started my journey in the "Real World".
College and the real world are so similar, yet so different. Here are few major transitions that happens in one's life when he migrates from college life to corporate world.
Travel
Spontaneous trips are the move in the college. You can simply go on long trips with your buddies without a worry. But, say goodbye to all those road trips now. Work will always be there to hinder your travel plans.
Relationships
College days are known for fun not serious relationships. But, this fun begins to end now and you start thinking about getting serious.
Attitude
The casual attitude of college life needs to be left behind. It is not accepted no matter what position you are in. One has to be completely professional from work ethics to dressing.
Presence of mind
The level of presence of mind you have when you are on a call with your reporting manager is not found anywhere and in no lectures till date. In fact, college lectures were never known for the presence of mind. In my experience, lectures are best place to complete your left over sleep.
Efforts
The amount of effort you put on the last night before exams to cross the magic level of 40% is no where to be seen in office life. In fact, here you have to put your efforts on a daily basis not just one night.
Achievement
This is the only thing that is common in both college life and corporate life. Neither you score the marks you deserve in college nor you get the appraisal as per you performance.
Freedom
In college life, you are continuously monitored by your parents, hostel wardens. There was always a superior authority above you to monitor your personal space. But, not anymore, once you are working, you are your own leader. You decide for yourself.
Financial Freedom
During college days, you have to depend on parents for financing, but now you earn and spend anyway you want. It is party time whenever you want.
The most that I miss from my college days is my sleep which is very less now. Then, I could sleep anytime and for any amount of time I want. But, it is not possible.
But the most that I prefer from work life is financial stability. I can spend on whatever I want. It feels really good when you don't have to think before shopping. ;)
