The Engagement League
This league is not based around financial rewards and relates to engagement.
Everyone currently on my master list has a chance here - including those powering down or dealing in delegations over the past couple of weeks.
I've used some metrics (which is the fancy way of saying that made up some numbers) relating to:
- Posts (P)
- Comments - number of (C)
- Number of people spoken to (PS)
- Comments - replies to replies - depth > 2 (C R)
- Comments - length in characters (C L)
- Witness votes (W) (for those proxying witness votes, your total is always 30)
- Up-votes to others (V)
- Up-votes to different authors (U V)
- Self-votes - a small minus score for this one, sorry! (S V)
Note: Copy/Paste comments will be excluded!
Firstly, if you are placed in the table above then you among the top 25% of the league entrants!
- 386 accounts earned a score this week (385 last time)
- The top 100 produced 745 top level posts (764 last time)
- The top 100 produced 13443 comments (13376 last time)
- The top 100 produced over 2.66 million characters of text in comments ( 2.81 last time )
- The top 100 cast 30815 votes (36861 last time), of these, 109 were self-votes (170 last time)

The Engagement Contest has been fun! I hope others like the format and begin doing Engagement contests, too! Judging by all the comments it has been a great way to promote engagement and I may do another one, maybe next month.
Janton's total comment record is actually 1,404 set back on the week ending, August 19, 2018. His next highest is 1,394 set the week before that. He's been over 1,300 at least four times, and over 1,200 at least double that. I didn't go back through all the records, but anyway, that gives you an idea. :)

Thank you! Ha! Look at you, finding that info for me! I have never paid much attention to any numbers other than my own, just trying to improve from week to week. With numbers like that he needs to do a bit of bragging, but I know that's not his way. He is truly astonishing.
I think everyone else does enough of it for him that he doesn't need to brag. :)
He's amazing. There's never been anyone who has produced the amount of numbers he does week in and week out, that's for sure.
re: numbers
I copy the list each week, just because I'm into stats. I think most people, if they do any of it, pay attention to their own numbers. I find if I know what others are doing, then I can see what it takes to get into the Top 10 at least. Lately haven't been anywhere near there, but one of these weeks, it'll happen. Maybe this week. Who knows? :)
I've been paying closer attention because it makes it easier to see what numbers really matter. This week that was made very clear, wasn't it? I need to go work on that!
You have been there before. I know you know how to do it when you choose to make the effort! I'm still undecided if I want to put in that much time this week.
That's very kind of you, @melinda010100, though I'm not sure what it's going to take to get back to where I want to be, which is dethroning janton for at least a week. But the dynamics have changed over the past year, and so, as you say, the effort it takes just to stay in the Top 10 is quite a bit, and increases the farther up you want to go.
It's true though. It's not so much the amount of comments made, as it is what those comments are doing. You can go the shotgun approach, like janton does, and get there by sheer force of numbers, or you can be a little more strategic. So far, shotgun approach is winning. :)
There is no way that I am willing to put in the amount of work that janton does. I spend far too much time here as it is. His first place position is totally safe as far as I'm concerned. I like being in the top 10, and that is my only goal. It keeps me active and involved, and I love all the friends that I have made because of the EL.

I guess I am just astonished each week by your numbers! I was happy with my numbers last week. It's just always so fun when Sunday comes around to see how they all add up!

I had really expected to be higher up in the list than last week, but instead I dropped a place. I give up trying to get in the green... but I did have fun engaging this week, guess that's the most important thing.

No need to worry about position here I think, as long as you are fielding all your blog comments worth replying to, and adding a bit of engagement elsewhere then that's fine by me :)
I found out someone changed the conditions of a deal we had without notifying me. Maybe not such a bad thing. It was about time I took back control over my voting, instead of leaving it to others. I don't believe in coinscidence, so the fact that this happens only days after I felt too ashamed to reply to your post about why I voted for people, is a clear sign to me that it is time to change my ways.
I've walked the path of just going for curation rewards without any ethics for way too long. Time to take responsibility again and stop pretending.
No more letting others do it for me, so it is good for my wallet. Back to doing what I always say I stand for: doing what is good for others and for the platform.
At least I will be able to look you in the (digital) eyes again :0)
Please don't worry about what I think! It's your stake to do as you please.
I have an alt that trails a fairly ethical (isn't front-running bid-bots) bot, and I don't choose what it votes on.
There are few saints here, just grab the STEEM and try to do some nice things along the way :)
It's not just you... I want to be able to look at myself in the mirror again too, without feeling I'm like a fraude because I say one thing, but do the complete opposite. I just don't feel comfortable anymore, and it doesn't really help me trying to build my self-esteem, lol.
But no worries, I won't entirely stop gaming the system ;0)
I'm just going to echo what Asher said about not worrying about what others think, but more than that, as one of those folks who still manually curates, I want to say, good on ya for wanting to come back to it, for whatever reasons.
I've thought about automating my vote, too. Maybe we all do. We want to help people but we want to get as much out of our efforts as possible. There's only so much time.
I guess what it comes down to is us finding what is the most satisfying. And, generally, that means knowing who we are or want to be, and then staying true to that. Woohoo!
