Sad News from Cala Millor
Seems like just the other day that I was reporting on the winter sunshine from the quiet seaside town of Cala Millor. Nothing much happens this time of year, that is until a Whale is found dying on the shoreline.
Yep, sad news to report I'm afraid as a juvenile Fin Whale was found at the shoreline the other day, and died just a few hours later. I'd not seen the news or heard anything of it, and was just cycling down the promenade to catch some daylight and escape the PC.
My photos aren't great, which is probably a good thing as who wants to get a good view of a dead animal. (Seemingly quite a lot of people judging by the YouTube clip following my photos).
Apparently, the 15 meter long Whale was found to be sick, and has been sliced by propellers. I'm assuming the animal was already sick, and wasn't purposely hit by the boat.

In other news, applications for the role I'm after at the United Nations have closed, and I hope to hear something in a week or so. Fingers crossed!

Did found the cat! It was more visible than the whale!
Strange if you add the term whale in a steem post, we all think about something else than an ocean mamal!
The cat is one of several that just live on site, and are fed by a Spanish couple who live in one of the apartments. That one is a bit cross-eyes, but the most friendly. If you have food it will let you stroke it, the rest do not trust humans at all!

Whales wash up on beaches more then people see. What I don’t get is that Japan opened hunting whales again, stating numbers have recovered enough. I don’t see a benefit of whale hunting or purpose in this day and age.

Responsible regulated hunting for a purpose I understand. I do not understand Japan’s need for whales, rhino horns or any of the outdated reasons they have.
Whale numbers can still increase without any negative impact.

I've not read as to why, there was some speculation that it had consumed a lot of plastic - that's really sad if so. It was quite surreal, I've never seen one that close before, and hope never again under those circumstances.

Poor whale, sad news indeed. :( I just hope he didn't suffer too much. Yeah, people will always try to get a glimpse of something like that. People will be people I guess.
I hope you'll get some good news about the job soon, I'm sure it will change things considerably and you can buy more Steem!! I always find that to stop worrying about things and just letting things go often changes everything. Personally, only two weeks ago I was panicking because there were more bills coming in than money and I had no idea how to fill all the holes.. Then I realized it's no use to stress about it, and I let it go. Since then, I had three freelance jobs pretty much land in my lap. Now, it's not going to magically make all of my problems disappear, but it will definitely tie us over to the next month. And I'm sure something else will present itself by then.
The cat must like the hot tin roof...And it's always better than a fiddler on the roof...
That will be the best thing about a job, buying STEEM at these hopefully super cheap prices.

I would be on the lookout for the Whale Vomit there was a news report early 2018 which stated a lady had found a football size piece of Whale Vomit washed up on a beach and she had sold it for research for around 100,000 Euro. Great Article abh12345

Who would have thought there was a market in such things. I guess the vomit was already partially collected in plastic bottles. On reading around the subject in recent days it seems Sonar, and consumption of plastic are common causes of beaching and sickness :(
If my children vomit was worth half that things would look a little Rosie or my wifes lol after she s been on the p-ss. So sad, I just hope the awareness that's building can help.
