Steem: The alt-coin with a purpose
Is Steem heading back to the .70's today? Don't worry, and relax... we have an alt-coin with a valid use!

Back on March 23rd 2016, Monero developer Riccardo Spagni stated, when asked which alt-coins he thought had features that were useful today: “None of them.”
To fall into that category is really hard. I'm not even sure Monero falls into it, although I do hope that it can get there. source

Steem - Our alt-coin with a purpose
Yesterday, I submitted an article to the community in which I detailed using Steem and Steemit to support a project in Nepal to help a school and Children's Home.

The response has been nothing less than awesome! Thank you very much to all who have shown their support so far, amazing!
The aim of the project is to help fund items like paint, musical instruments, school furniture and materials, sports equipment, and tools to aid learning.
Whatever is required, we show to the community, and you decide if you wish to support with your up-votes.
In my (slightly biased) mind, this is a transparent and excellent example of an alt-coin being put to use. I hope you agree and choose to support our project in the coming months.
In the meantime, I wouldn't worry at all about the fluctuating prices, I think we have a great future together!

I agree Nothing changed, the direction is the same, just some dips on the way ! Atleast when it comes to Steemit, I am certain the development will be good in the long run, it's more than just a coin, it's an ecosystem, and with projects like the one your planning being built in top of it nothing can stop the long term growth of steem and steemit ! Indeed. To be honest, it really sounds impossible to me, but so did BTC over a thousand dollars and we all know how many times it actually surpassed that mark.

I bought the low STEEM price many times in the past few weeks. I think I've put close to $2k of my own money here and I plan to keep scaling in indefinitely. Also picked up some ether and btc at $212 and $3070, respectively.
I see a lot of potential in STEEM and I hold the most amount of money in this crypto currency because it is in use and benefitting people! I can't wait to see where it is in a few years.
I think it was you who with whom I discussed our steem goals for end of sepbtember and it looks like we've hit that $3,000 mark or close. Maybe by the end of the year our accounts will be at $5k and our votes will be worth over $0.50 or more if the currency increases. Exciting times and Steem on friend!

Good job with the buys yesterday! I'm wondering if there will be another attack on $3000 for BTC before a reversal. Steem should go its own way in a year or 3 which will be epic.
