Be a PAL?

in #palnet5 years ago (edited)

Assuming the airdrop has reached the active members of the community, there are going to be a lot of the engaged types with PAL tokens.

And that sounds like a good thing for me! As long as I'm powering up my PAL and using the #palnet tag.

The other day I claimed my 1322 PAL tokens from https://steem-engine.com/ and immediately powered them up, and I hope that this is what many of the accounts I follow and support have done also.

Double-dip?

I'm not a prolific content creator, a scammer, or a greedy person, and so one post a day will do me for the most part. And unless I am posting for utopian, via https://steeditor.app/, my go-to posting app is https://busy.org/. Busy reward you with one vote a day which is weighted depending on the summed SP of your followers. Well, I might not have the largest accounts following me, but I have lots of mid-range accounts there, and this vote currently stands at over $1.

I have no clue where PAL or palnet.io will take Steem, and so for now I will continue to take this busy.pay vote and will add the #palnet tag to each post.

If you didn't sample these as a kid you missed out - and probably have nice teeth

As far as I am aware this is OK, although it does feel a little cheeky. I think too much about what is right, and should just get on with mining all the tokens I can. I mean, it's not like I am a top 10 witness posting 5/6 un-engaging pieces of content a day from 5/6 different accounts and self-voting the lot of them.

PAL Buyer

99 STEEM in, 1000 PAL tokens out - that's the plan anyway.

I hope to see the #palnet tag on many of my buddies content going forward - more PAL for me, especially with 50/50 author/curator in play.

Other stuff

UK

I've spent the last week at my brothers house in the north west of England. It's been nice to see him and his wife again and since I saw them last time, the family has grown as they've acquired a couple of very fluffy cats. These cats are housebound as they live on a fairly busy road which continues to dispel the myth that moggies have 9 lives.

Talking about the outside, absolute rubbish. It's rained since I arrived, and the 7 day forecast is rain, rain, rain. I don't know how people do it, and I'm already working out my next escape plan, even though it could be years away yet.

Next week is my Grandad's funeral, and following that I will be heading a little further south (not far enough for a change in the weather) to the city of Nottingham, close to where my daughter lives. I want to attempt to find work here first of all, and if there is nothing doing, I will look further afield.

MORDHAU

Is anyone playing this? My brother kindly bought me this one on Steam the other day and I've been getting my legs and head chopped off frequently. His wife also plays and so we have a group which helps a little, but the game is tough, and gory. Despite looking like an total hack and slash, it's very tactical and pretty damn difficult to begin with, which is why I'm getting my ass kicked.

Not me, this guy is actually killing people.

@exyle spoke today regarding Steem being a MMO, and mentioned the amount of time he'd spent playing WOW without anything to show in real life for it. I feel the same about Battlefield 2 and video chat rooms, and these days I do try to limit the time I spend gaming. Steem has the game feel, and the potential to improve your real life too. Priorities, priorities.

Have a nice day all, speak to you soon

Cheers

Asher

I have always thought of Steemit as being like an mmorpg. It's the best way so as to so you going mad.

Lol, you know, the weather was fine till you arrived. I mean .. I'm no scientist but could there be a link? Are you to blame?

I am going mad with regards to being pissed on from above in this country whenever I need to step outside!

Today I need to go shopping and normally (in Spain), you'd just wait for the shower to end. Here it's like, well that could be another week so get your umbrella and get the fuck on with it. Pile of shit!

It had been particularly bad of late, lol

Better stock up on brollys!! :0D

Or PAL tokens - they will buy me sunshine in the future I hope :D

You will be a PALWHALE!!!

I am going mad with regards to being pissed on from above in this country whenever I need to step outside!

You leave on Downing street?

It's all free umbrellas and caviar offa interns butt-cheeks down there, sadly not.

We are 120 miles away, but I can still smell shit brexit.

Hi ya @meesterboom,

Do you mind my testing out PAL Stake on your comment?

......looks like it did not work for @abh12345's post.....perhaps bleujay should change browsers before trying again.

Lovely to see you!

Yes....I think you are on to something. hehe

Cheers!

NB Do you not love this colour 'bleu'.......bleujay does!

Hello!! Ha, I don't mind at all!! Did it work?

Tis a fine colour bleu!!! :0)

Hi ya..... I think it did.....however one must need loads of Stake to get any traction.

Here's hoping you will get yours as well.

How about a bleu bentley.......that may be a bit OTT ...okay well sounds cool!

A bientot!

Hehe, it does sound cool!! It had always been my favourite type of car!!!

Here's to moahr stake!!

Greetings @abh12345,

Thank you for posting ....lovely post!

Oh yes....recevd the drop and staked straight away.

......as yours was the first account bleujay recognised.....here at Palnet.....I thought I would stop by and say 'Hello'.

All the best.

Cheers!

NB All good fun!

Hi @bluejay

Thanks for stopping by :)

From what I gather there are still a few minor issues with the votes displaying correctly, but I believe they are being counted. I would just continue voting as normal and wait and see. I'm not aware of a chart and am happy to see what happens over the next month or so. Cheers!

I also staked my PAL so you do have the support of a 662 PAL account :) Rather worthless at the moment :(
I do see it as an expirement and it comes in handy to prepare the proposed 50/50 split in HF21.
I do regret that they have giving so much PAL to the moderator of minnowsupport. Around 20 accounts did get 30K PAL. A vote of them is worth a shitload of PAL tokens. But without the support of them, like myself, you can almost forget it!
If we look at the trending and hot page, the will the posts they voted on and to be honest it looks like a ....
Let me just stop here before I am becoming to negative!

Condolences with your granddad.

Cheers,
Peter

662, nice :D

30K for the mods - that's 15 x more than the top amount air-dropped...

Still, if you compare to the distribution of SP, that isn't so bad. Time to go make friends with the PAL mods ;)

palnet.io trending? I should go see...

Thanks Peter, have a good week.

I do think that 10K for the mods would have been good enough. That would still have been 4x the max airdrop!
I do think that the support of 1K PAL equals a 1 Pal reward.

Hope the weather gets better soon!

There's a reason for it. As part of the project, we committed to fully staking, no self voting, no selling and powerdowns for a one year minimum, and we're leading the charge to place the power of the initial drop behind our long term manual curation project, @msp-curation. This is basically to lead to faster, wider distribution and to help trending and other feeds turn over daily with quality, hand picked manually curated content in a wide variety of niches. We've been working for more than two years to bring all of the piece of the PALnet puzzle to life, and part of that is making sure that we also lead from the front where everyone can see us and where we ourselves are transparent both on Steem and the second layer. The best thing you can do to help is to encourage people to try out the palnet tag! We find so many posts to curate, and while the vote is a few dollars of steem for each piece with use it on, on PALnet, it would be a trending item. Just need people to open their hearts to the love we want to give them :)

Hi @crimsonclad,
Let me first state that I know that it is easier to have something to say about something than to create it! So I do understand that a lot of work was involved.
I am also not saying that whales should be created in the beginning. It is a great way to start!
I only do find that the gap between the max airdrop and the extra handover to the mods is too big! But like Asher wrote: it is what it is!

Also the problem I do have with curating project is the fact that some niches are left in the dark. Which is natural. I could write great posts about sportsbetting and gambling but as long as there is no curator interested into these topics the chances are slim that I would be noticed.

So don't take it negatively but see it as constructive criticism :)

Cheers,
Peter

not taking it negatively at all! When I see comments like yours, I see an opportunity to do a bit of explaining of the thought process, since that's really something that is missing at the end of the day~ so when people like you guys ask questions, I don't see it as a negative... it's all public which means it's all accountable and we should be ready to listen to and respond to the people who have something legit to say about it! I'd rather say, "yeah, I hear you. Here are some reasons for it, though they aren't perfect." Think of my reply as an acknowledgement of what you're saying and thinking, and a little respect because I know when things aren't explained that feels gross :D

Thanks for the explanation! Really helps to place some things in perspective!
Nothing is perfect and regardless of the choices made, there will always be people in favor and against it!

I think this is the right step forward, if the mods will truly follow the rules to heart and only try to think what's best for the whole network in long term! I always thought the main issue of Steem was the initial distribution and whales that do not engage with the community or do their job. If they'd only focused on growing the network for the first 2-3 years instead of their own wallets, who knows where Steem would be today. Far ahead for sure community wise!

It's also interesting to see if this "tribes" thing will catch on, I do like the idea and hope it does! This could change the internet, but it's a moonshot :)

We have some code changes coming to help us out, as well as some special accounts to do so. I think it's a unique problem to have, and a good one for us to show how we plan to solve openly. I also am pretty excited because it does really allow us to spread the PAL around. I don't think we're the perfect answer, but I do think we're a missing piece in the evolution of Steem, or tools that help people to think more critically about Steem, even as it's us constantly evolving ourselves.

Good for you, I've always thought that Steem is more like a stock company than any other blockchain due to its distribution of stake via daily voting; Meaning that the value comes from those who actually are holding the SP, for that reason it's vital that we get the best people out there into positions, where they can do the most good. That's why I asked about your plans for bidbots, because I believe it's a crucial part of this network exceeding and actually attracting normal Joes and Lauras from the world. We need to be received as a fair and somewhat just platform.

Steem failed to do that MISERABLY. And I love how Bernie is finally out of the picture, and few others...
What a bad idea to give huge power in a social platform to a very early crypto miners.

As I was saying on the weekend, there's no doubt we'll have missteps, but I think the big thing is we're here, we're open and accountable, and we give a shit. These things all together I truly believe matter. We've been learning for years on the current system. This gives us a chance to test some of our hypotheses... and hopefully bring a few more people along for the ride.

Yeah, well it's done now - they are a tenth of the price of STEEM at present - cheap? :)

Thank you!

Gave you a 100% upvote at 993 PAL Power, and still no idea what that gives you :’) We’ll have to wait a few days for the system to callibrate. I had some luck trading some ‘extra’ PAL, with the profit I bought 1/10th of the PALMM, still no idea why as it doesn’t seem to give out much but I like experimenting.

Good luck with the weather in the UK - I guess it will feel like a temporary thing as long as you live there #sunonyourmind

Nice :)

Experimenting, that's what we are doing and at times there is fun to be had.

No expectations although PAL is up and up today.

Temporary for sure, I'm out and about right now and it feels like late autumn / early spring :(

I mean, it's not like I am a top 10 witness posting 5/6 un-engaging pieces of content a day from 5/6 different accounts and self-voting the lot of them.

People do that?!!!!! I keep flagging them. Big 'T' hates me for flagging him to SFR and Steemcleaners on a weekly basis lol;-)

One step at a time mate. It won't rain everyday.....quite.

Posted using Partiko Android

People do that?!!

For 18 months now pretty much, yes.

BigTBitconnect? :)

Rain every day thus far, and no end in sight - no way am I staying here forever!

Welcome to the palnet community!

I did collect my small airdrop from PAL, and I'll probably start using their front end to post... or at least add the tag to my posts, as I really do like SteemPeak. I was a bit sad to see that a lot of people (evidently) were immediately trying to "make bank" by cashing out... seems pretty short sighted, but so it goes. I guess that's the nature of this "beast" we are playing with.

Don't float away! All that rain can't be good for anyone!

=^..^=

Good stuff :)

The price is fluctuating wildly and those who've sold this past week have sold themselves short looking at the current price.

Certainly worth using the tag!

I hope they will live in harmony but palnet could collapse, spinoff, or eventually outshine. My guess is siphon value and slow collapse. I sold all mine immediately. It's gone up since then... but then again I could have sold Steem for 5 usd each or eth at 1000 each at one point.

Posted using Partiko Android

Yup, anything is possible I guess.

An impressively tight and active book, the price is up and up.

Those STEEM and ETH prices will come again, and this time (at least for STEEM) I hope to have some on the side.

That double-dip tip is a good one! Not sure if you knew already, but earning PAL is possible even without doing the upvotes through the PAL interface. As long as the post has #palnet tag, any vote with Steem Power - as long as you have PAL staked - will also use Pal Power.

Convenient.

Staked mine already, 612 that I got from the claimdrop, and now I'll be earning PALs without even needing to change my Steem behavior much at all. I don't think I'll be buying any, I will just keep what I already have, staked, and see how it turns out on the long run.

I do try to limit the time I spend gaming. Steem has the game feel, and the potential to improve your real life too. Priorities, priorities.

It's a bit of a weird thing, but I rarely even want to play any games anymore. They just seem to not do much for me anymore. An exception to this is when playing with friends, but to play by myself I would have to kinda force myself, which would be just weird, hence I can't really bother.

I'll just keep playing on Steem, since it has proven to have a fundamentally positive impact on my life.

Posted using Partiko Android

Convenient, yes :)

Perhaps not so convenient with this 1 'free' downvote PAL is offering, as that is not going to be free as far as VP on Steem I assume.

I'll just keep playing on Steem, since it has proven to have a fundamentally positive impact on my life.

Can't argue with that. I wasted too much time on a PC on things with no real life improvement value - not this time. PAL and Steem on :D

It's not free on Steem, no. But the idea is that people will realize that all of the curation that they do, up or down, on Steem or other layers, can all be displayed in any number of ways to look totally different from interface to interface. Anything that gets people thinking about curating again, or trying out new behaviours, or even just making the idea of downvoting a little bit more normalized is a win~

Thanks for the clarification Crimmy :)

Anything that gets people thinking about curating again, or trying out new behaviors, or even just making the idea of downvoting a little bit more normalized is a win

Amen to that!

If the EIP goes with 2 or 3 'free' flags for Steem, are you guys likely to match what is decided there?

Thanks for the replies to fullcoverbetting above too, pretty cool that you have policies in place for the mods. Go PAL go! :D

Honestly not sure, but I doubt it. Any changes we make (and there will absolutely be some, it's like a daily data collection thing these days, lol) will be based on the PAL ecosystem and Steem is gonna steem. With trending and promoted potentially looking better and with a portion of earning tokens able to be done without "on-chain action" per-se, downvotes are important but may also be not as necessary. Orrrrr I could be hugely wrong and we decouple them from SP (which is a potential for PAL in general, code and evolution dependent) and give many. We have guiding goals, but we're open to the best ways we can figure out to get there, and that doesn't mean lockstep with Steem.

Alright :)

I have a feeling that DV's might not be as necessary, but your daily data collection will likely show this.

.... we're open to the best ways we can figure out to get there, and that doesn't mean lockstep with Steem.

It certainly doesn't :)

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather.

Rain in England? NO!!! Should have traveled to Ireland, we've had sun for the past few days, a week of rain before that and sun again for two weeks before that! How'd ya like them apples?

I'm only just done 'studying' about Palnet, and got the tokens. I love what's going on on Steem-engine :) I like to have more options when trading. Binance gets boring after a while haha.

Well, good luck on the job-hunt!

Thank you.

Yeah, i don't like them apples at all! The 10 day forecast has rain and thunder on the agenda - this place really blows!

Don't trade your PAL, stake them and vote me yo :P

Thanks!

!ENGAGE 50

I planned to stake them. Vote for a vote? 😂 LOL
You know you should engage and write quality posts and not beg for upvotes... 😉. Thanks for the engage tokens! It's appreciated. Did you create them? I'm still playing with the idea I spoke to you about and also have another idea. So might hit you up on discord one of the days if that's OK.

And don't you mind your rain, we're out camping and it started raining as soon as we got here. 😔
