BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL

The night was calm and gentle, you could hear the cricket singing in their homes, some chasing after the newly arrived virgins in the hood.

Nature was at her best that night, the moon had already come out to kiss the earth,

the trees branches danced to the cool music played to them by the might palms of the evening breeze.

Those who came home late from the evening market had to fix dinner for their treasure, the combined pounding of the mortar added a romantic tune to the stillness of the night, oil lamps were seen from a distance adding a colorful beauty to the darkness that was upon the land.

In a hut far away, footsteps could be heard, people coming in and going out, they were in a hurry, someone was in labour, the midwives had just be called, on a mat, she was laid, preparations were made, things kept in place to welcome the arrival of a new member of the family, push!
was the word,
harder!
came the next word,

oh! I can't do this again, no you have to, give it one more try,

hmmmmmm, haaaaaaaa, ooooooooo,
came the melodious sweet sound of pain, after hours of captivating shouts, a girl was born, an African child, her palms folded, her body covered in blood.

Congratulation sir, you are now a father to a bouncing baby girl

were the words they told him. Joy filled the entire room, the cricket resumed their music, the branches danced like never before and the gentle breeze added a cool sensation to the hot body of the woman who had just came out of labour.

That was how it all happened I guess.

An African child was born

Yes o, thanks for stopping by

Black is the only color that can be altered. Truly Black Nigerians

Exactly friend, it can't be altered

Interestingly phrased story of the birth of an African child. Not sure what's so romantic about the pounding of yam or what's so melodious and sweet about the agony of labour pains but 🤷

Nicely done :) Kinda reminds me of a short story I did a while back called The African Goddess.

Although very different stories I think it's the black is beautiful part that reminded me of it.

Wow would love to read it. Would you be posting it on steemit?

I posted those on Steemit. The one was as a short story motivational/guide to a competition we ran. The others were for the Masters of the Universe entries. Kinda a quest vibe. Was fun :)

Here's a link to the motu entry if you'd like to check it out:
