Robber Fly on the Dried Twig
I took this black robber fly with green eyes with DSLR. I found it was standing calmly waiting for the prey. As the name suggests, a robber fly is capable of catching prey while flying (robbing) and I guess it was seeking a chance to execute the mission even it did not care about my presence. Anytime we find this kind of insect, it is always in a standing position like it was so well prepared for the worst. The robber fly is classified in diverse families (Asilidae) known for their predatory behavior that attacks bees, dragonflies, grasshoppers, wasps other flies, and also some spiders also become their prey.
