NEW CONTEST 2021 - WEEK 3 I THE COPULATION OF CACTUS FLIES
My next contribution to the contest, is about some pictures of cactus flies that I found a while ago in the wood. I guess, I came on the right time when they were having good moment on the leaf. Indeed, they flew here and there when noticing me coming but I did not give up with them, I kept following their way to take shots. In result, I was finally able to capture them in close up with DSLR camera instead of mobile phone. I dont know, whether my photos are qualified for macro or they can be included in the same macro category , because as I understand, I took them in a certain distance which is not in extreme close up. The Cactus Fly, Copestylum mexicanum, is large and robust, yet is harmless to people as their only interest is taking nectar, mating and finding the next cactus rot. The wings are distinctively marked half clear and half black.
