The Phenomenal Contribution of St. Joseph Hospital Baramulla

A cursory glimpse at the past of the St Joseph Hospital cascades through my mind a rich legacy that this institution has created in the health and education sector. Laying base in North Kashmir's Baramulla District in 1921 the institution pumped life into the poor maternity health care in the area and since then the institution has unflinchingly catered to the health needs of the grief-stricken populace. It has also created a lot of health professionals (paramedics) who are serving across the country.
The journey of this institution has been rewarding in so many aspects but it has taken a lot of sacrifices of the benevolent staffers.

In 1947 about 6 staffers lost their lives to some unforeseen events. These challenges only strengthened the resolve of the dedicated staffers and they continued to lend a helping hand to the society and also strived for excellence.

Starting as a dispensary in the early 90s and then emerging into a full-fledged hospital and health educational institution par excellence, despite many roadblocks, is an achievement that cannot be described in words.

With every achievement came new challenges but the medical sisters -- who have dedicated their lives to the Nobel cause -- overcame every challenge with bravery.

Every member has equally contributed to the survival and success of the institution. The pinnacle of the institution would not have been possible without the dedication, teamwork and selfless efforts of everyone.
The hospital is not only improving health quality but also updating its infrastructure from time to time. Last year a 2 storied hospital building was constructed which has increased the bedding capacity manifold. The new space is technologically advanced and will cater to a large portion of the populace.

I have personally observed some of the members like Dr Plaseda and Dr Josphie doing commendable.
Dr Plaseda is at the forefront to tackle the extreme medical exigencies that arise from time to time. She along with other teammates is credited with immense contribution to public health and wellbeing. Sister Josphie is equally important for the institution, she is always on her toes to take the institution to next level. She is very compassionate and is never tired of serving humanity.
Every other member is an important limb of the institution. It is only because of their blood and sweat that St. Joseph's Hospital is able to serve and soothe humanity.
