A few thoughts on true freedom

in #philosophy7 years ago

As most of the people that I know jump up and down waving their flags, proclaiming how great america is. Even I poped some fireworks with my family, but yet I wonder what the masses think true freedom is.

Why is it so difficult for my fellow humans to understand that so much of what they believe makes them who they are serves little purpose but to divide us. I hear so many "proud to be an american"s around this time of year, it always makes me go back to George Carlin "what the fuck are you proud of?" Most Americans did nothing to become one (including me) we were just born here. Same with every other country there is no accomplishment to be proud of in your nationality.

I see people flipping out about the disrespect of the flag a mere symbol. What is wrong with us? How did it become that all the troops and the all the ideals of the founders could be represented by just one symbol? Truth is they're not, flags, seals, emblems, they are all like currencies or commodities in that they only have the value one sees in them.

Yet these same two groups of people are the first to tell you that this is the freest place on earth, and if you don't like it you can move to north korea. Still they miss the lies and oppression of their own nation. They tell us that here a man can work hard and make a dollar, but don't know that the dollar is just a debt instrument. They talk about how all people are represented in government, but don't know that major corporations are people to. Even fail to mention how there are few if any natural resources that you can harvest without a license or a tax, sometimes both. I know for the most part this particular community is enlightened to these facts but the masses are not.

In my vision of a truly free world there is no crime in which another person is not harmed either physically or financially. There is no regulation on transactions of private people. There are no borders, no governments, and no religions. Nothing is taxed because there is no all consuming government to pay them to. There is still private ownership and rules but no rulers, the people would have to weed out the bad companies from the good. Most importantly people must be allowed to fail

The problem with this is that the masses must not only be informed but desire to be so. The old idiom "ignorance is bliss" will hold true until the time of the next collapse when the country I was born in goes the way of all former empires, greek, roman, byzantine, soviet, you name it they all fell for basically the same reasons and we will be no different.
