Oh well, a Desert. Sand, dunes, camels and the scorching sun’s unbearable heat? Is it ? NO ?

NOPS,. This is not the desert that you know, This is the desert that you can only imagine, But this time, it has come to reality.

Yes. There exists a desert above the clouds in this very world. Located at an elevation of almost 10,000 feet above sea level between the mountain ranges of Himalayas and Karakoram Range, covered with snow most of the time, freezing cold which’ll make you shiver even in the hottest months of the year. A wonder of its own kind and a tourism paradise. This is THE SKARDU DESERT. Welcome to northern Pakistan!.


It is one of the most unique places on the globe, that has sand and dunes along with a rather friendly sun that maintains a temperature of 10 °C, and one of the very few deserts in the world where you can play cricket without breaking a sweat! This doesn’t mean that playing cricket there is a piece of cake, only that the temperature is too cold for one to sweat.

This unique place is likely to send shivers down your body and give you one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences that make life worth living.

Lying between two of the highest mountain ranges of Himalayas and Karakoram, reaching here is an adventure in itself. And if that’s not it, then right next to this amazingly beautiful desert lies two of the largest glaciers in the world, the Baltoro and Biafo glaciers, which hosts some of the highest peaks of the world, K2, Broad Peak and Ghserbrum, where only a selected few from among man and beast are able to make their way.

This interesting desert is surrounded with a valley that is covered with lush green vegetation. Imagine walking into a lush green paradise which suddenly meets a barren desert from where you can see the snow-capped mountain tops towering above miles of sand dunes.
