Estoy feliz, porque hemos llegado a la edición 144 de Arte y Escritura, y para esta el invitado es: Edwar Hopper:

Este distinguido artista plástico nació en el seno de una familia burguesa, el 22 de julio de 1882, en Nyack (Estados Unidos).

En el año 1900 se matriculó para estudiar arte en la New York School of Art. Allí se rodeó de grandes maestros y compañeros de clases excepcionales, entre los que destacan: Rockwell Kent, Guy Pène du Bois, George Bellows y Eugene Speicher.

En el año 1906 viajó por primera vez a Europa y comenzó a involucrarse con los trabajos impresionistas realizados por destacados pintores franceses de la época. Luego, en el año 1907 recorrió Londres, Berlín y Bruselas.

Regresó a los Estados Unidos y comenzó a realizar obras centradas en la vida cotidiana de hombres y mujeres estadounidenses.

Entre los años 1915 y 1923 abandonó la pintura y se enfocó en los grabados. Sus trabajos eran impecables y recibió varios premios y distinciones por ellos.

Luego retornó a la pintura figurativa realizada con acuarela y se convirtió en un referente artístico de su país.

En el año 1924 se casó con la también pintora Josephine Nivison, quien dejó a un lado su trabajo artístico para convertirse en la modelo de su esposo.

Hopper falleció el 15 de mayo de 1967 en Nueva York (Estados Unidos).

I'm happy because we've reached the 144th issue of Art and Writing, and this time the guest is: Edward Hopper:

This distinguished artist was born into a bourgeois family on July 22, 1882, in Nyack (United States). United States).

In 1900, he enrolled to study art at the New York School of Art. There, he surrounded himself with great teachers and exceptional classmates, including Rockwell Kent, Guy Pène du Bois, George Bellows, and Eugene Speicher.

In 1906, he traveled to Europe for the first time and began to engage with the Impressionist works of prominent French painters of the time. Later, in 1907, he toured London, Berlin, and Brussels.

He returned to the United States and began creating works centered on the everyday lives of American men and women.

Between 1915 and 1923, he abandoned painting and focused on printmaking. His works were impeccable, and he received several awards and distinctions for them.

He later returned to figurative watercolor painting and became an artistic icon in his country.

In 1924, he married fellow painter Josephine Nivison, who put aside her artistic work to become her husband's model.

Hopper died on May 15, 1967, in New York City (United States).
